Chapter 3

3 NEW LIFE

She had already decided to be Cody. Starting from today, she will take full responsibility for Cody's body and life and promised that she will take revenge on the people who had hurted her.

A knock on the door made her thoughts come to a halt. The man named Ash came back.

From Cody's memory, Ash is her best friend and one of the people who had shown care for her. He's always by her side whenever she needed him. But this time, Ash is not alone. In his arms is a little boy about 4 years old.

"Mom!"

The little boy strained on Ash's hold and swiftly made his way to her.

From Cody's memory, she immediately recognized the little boy who's clinging onto her.

At first, she was surprised. But then, immediately accepted the fact that she has a son.

The little boy was the aftermath of what happened to her after the celebration. She can't exactly remember what had happened before she woke up, with nothing else except for the blanket that's covering her nakedness. She can't even remember the face of the man who took her innocence 5 years ago.

All she could recall is that unique dragon tattoo on the right side of his waist.

"Mom. Are you okay?" The little boy's cute face was about to cry as he asks that. His blue watery eyes look like it's about to shed tears while his cute pointed nose became redder and redder every second.

Seeing this sight, her heart started to ache. Cody patted the little boy's back as she tries to comfort him.

"I'm okay, Dwayne." A smile appeared on her lips as she gently hugged the little boy.

"B-but Uncle Ash said t-that someone poisoned you." Dwayne started to cry. "I thought I would lose you."

A warm feeling seeped through her heart as she heard him say that. In her previous life, no one really cared for her safety. It's the first time someone had shown care for her.

"I'm okay, I won't leave you." She said, hugging the little boy tighter.

As the two of them embrace each other, Ash who's standing beside them felt a pang of pain in his heart.

He really envied the child's father, at the same time, he felt resented about how the guy treated Cody as a prostitute.

Using her for a night to relieve his concupiscence. Ash'll never forgive him if he'd known his identity. He will make him feel three times the pain Cody had felt for the past five years.

"Uncle Ash promised that after you wake up, the three of us will go to Paris! Isn't that right Uncle Ash?"

Dwayne's enthusiastic voice pulled Ash from his thoughts. He smiled.

"Of course! How could I forget my promise?"

Ash patted Dwayne's head. Not like earlier, he held a bright smile on his face.

"We'll go there next week."

"Uncle Ash, you're the best!" Dwayne happily exclaimed. He quickly jumped into Ash's arms, making the man's heart flutter. "Mom! Did you hear that?! Uncle Ash said that we'll go to Paris next week!"

"Uhuh." Cody nodded with a smile.

She felt really softhearted towards the little boy.

Dwayne is really enthusiastic and filled with energy which makes him a lot easier to get along with.

"Hey little buddy, it's getting late. You and your mum should rest now. Let's go, I'll take you to your room." Ash said while carrying Dwayne towards the door. But the little guy restrained, trying to get away from his firm hold.

"No! I'll stay with my mom! Uncle Ash, please let me stay with my mom?" Dwayne plead.

"Nope. Your mom needs to rest, no buts."

"Ash. Let him stay." Cody said.

"Yey!" The little guy jumped off from Ash's arms and quickly ran towards Cody's bed.

"Hey, buddy! Careful! You might hurt your mum!"

Afraid of what Ash has said, Dwayne obediently followed him. He gently laid down onto Cody's side.

"Mum. Let's sleep."

Dwayne gently tugged Cody's sleeves and wrapped his little arms around her waist.

"Okay, goodnight you two." Ash softly said before he got out of Cody's room.

"Goodnight." The mother and son replied.

After half an hour, Dwayne already fell asleep in Cody's arms. He looks so peaceful and angelic while sleeping. With his long and thick eyelashes down to his small pointed nose, to his soft natural red lips, he can be a beautiful boy.

"I guess this second life isn't that bad after all." A soft smile appeared on Cody's face before she fell asleep.
