Math Ore

I was studying a lot by myself in school. I tried to do my best with every exam, and got average score in every topic.

Learning is hard, but having to teach what I learn..is something I never had an opportunity to do.

"...I hate math."

"Why though?"

"AH! Don't scare me like that!"

"You were standing at the entrance. Class is starting, so get going to your seat- eh?"

"eh?"

Things escalated more quickly than ever before.

...eh.

"Ah, I'm from another class! S-Sorry-"

"Students from other classes are not allowed to enter here. Meet me at my office at lunch time."

"What a mess"...is what I thought. Things escalated too quickly, that I couldn't have enough time to process everything.

At lunch time, I met the teacher.

"So..to make things simple, I'm actually-"

"WAIT! According to my calculations, if I assume the time and date, position, angle, and overall shape, I can conclude that you are..ME!"

"Wait, how can you conclude that just with math??"

"How? Well, that requires more calculati-"

"Nevermind! Nevermind..."

I still hate math.

"Okay, let me explain everything."

I explained everything. To my surprise, the other me understood everything quickly.

"It still doesn't make sense.

"I know, right?

"I mean, you're telling me that you've met an Ore who plays basketball, and an Ore who catch fish for a hobby?"

"Yeah, and if I assume correctly, you became a math teacher, right?"

"Indeed. I studied at the local university, and got my teaching degree! Now I'm teaching high school students every week. The finals are actually today, so a lot of students are under pressure."

"I see. Can I watch one of your pre-finals lessons?"

"Sure. It's the last one. Just wear a wig or something."

Math Ore already realized that I was curious. After all, I never had an opportunity to see a lesson from an adult's perspective.

Math Ore was very strict with his teaching. Many students like him, and he's one of the most popular teachers at this high school.

"How was it? The lesson that is."

"...I still hate math."

Much numbers. such calculations. wow.

"Yeah, so am I."

"It's like, all these numbers and calcula- what did you just say?

"That I also hate math?"

"....HOOOOOWWWW?!"

"I mean, the majority of people around here hate math. I like teaching it, because I know it helps the young people who aim for greater things. It became fun once I got praised for my teaching."

"The students really like you."

"Yeah. I worked hard for it. Ah, my time is up. I need to keep my eyes on students who take the finals."

After 2 hours, as I was waiting in his office, I had a thought.

"....I truly, hate math. But I guess it's useful later."

Math Ore returned to the office.

"How was it?"

"I think most of my students have a high chance to pass! They all took my advice and put it into use."

"Good for you!"

Usually, the students get the result a few days later, but Math is one of the exceptions. They get the result an hour later.

It turns out all his students have passed.

"Heh. Math me looks so happy...he truly served his justice. I'm jealous..."

And with that said, the very convenient gate appeared.

"I'll just go. I Don't want to ruin his moment of happiness."

I never found out if Math Ore learned about my disappearance, but I still hope he keeps doing his best.

After another ride inside the very convenient gate, I ended up in a courtroom.

"Where am I? ...AH! A COURTROOM?!

The crowd in the courtroom started whispering to each other, feeling awkward about my sudden shout.

A loud sound of an hammer was unleashed.

"ORDER IN COURT! Young man, be quiet or get out. You're interrupting the cross-examination."

It was the judge.

"I'll be quiet, your honor."

I sat down and looked over the prosecutor's side.

"So with that in mind, we have proof that he killed the victim-"

"OBJECTION!"

We moved our eyes and looked at the defense lawyer.

"I object to the prosecution's statement, and I have evidence to prove the defendant's innocence!"

(Wait..that lawyer...)

At the time, to that fated encounter...

(...THAT'S ME!)

...I had too many objections.

[Writer's Message]

Hello everyone! This is Redo, the writer of Self Approach.

Thank you for reading the first chapters of my novel, and I hope you'll keep enjoying the adventure of Average Ore and his clones!

Err...not really clones, but originally that's what I had in mind.

At first, I wanted Ore to have a dramatic tale, filled with action scenes and drama.

But it turns out humor is one of my strongest suits, so I decided to take a shot at that genre.

For me, a person like Basketball Ore, is someone that I had a desire to become once in my life, and this is my way of sharing my thoughts about this hypothetical path I would take.

I'm planning to include minor characters that are more associated with Ore starting next chapter, So it won't feel like anyone but Ore are just background silhouettes, hahaha..

Actually, the prosecutor is the first one I had in mind, so you could say I already started the inclusion process in this chapter.

Welp, back to the writing board!
