Chapter 2: Destiny

Amelia is a blonde girl with long wavy hair, everyone in the town had black hair color so her hair color was unusual. His eye color was blue like everyone's in town.

All the peasants of the town treat Amelia in a special way, since his death would bring prosperity to the peasants , this is how they treat all those children chosen to die.

Amelia grew up without her parents, she never got to know them. However, she did not feel alone because she lived with the blacksmith's family who took care of her when she was still a baby.

For that reason, Amelia is very close to Jin, the blacksmith's son. He always said things to his face. If he saw something wrong, he criticized it and if he saw something right, he praised it.

Jina is the blacksmith's other daughter, but she is very capricious and doesn't usually talk to Amelia much. Jina seems to please Amelia, although she didn't usually show it.

The blacksmith's wife was Amelia's legitimate aunt, who was her father's sister. She bathed her, dressed her and combed every day. For Amelia she was like a mother.

The peasants told Amelia that her parents died almost after her birth, but they didn't tell her why. The reason why her parents died is that: it was decided that she would be offered at the stake to the demon "Moloch" and her parents refused. His skin was torn almost unrecognizable in sight and his flesh served as food for the crows.

Amelia's father was a simple peasant, with an air of greatness, who longed to leave Bleak Town to get to know the world. When he fell in love with Amelia's mother, he wanted to travel the same places she had gone to. He dreamed of exploring someday, those places his wife referred to in his stories, even if that dream was impossible.

Amelia's mother was from an aristocratic family, who escaped from her home to marry a peasant. People always told him how beautiful his mother was. His mother used to wear a brown dress; Amelia wanted to use it one day, but she knew that would not be possible.

People often smile at Amelia while they say "you are the savior" and "thanks to you, everyone can be happy." People did not realize how cruel it was to say that to a girl whom they plan to kill. No one would be happy with that situation.

Amelia was not able to contradict the words of the peasants, they raised her with the idea that her death would help everyone. How could she tell them she didn't want to? It was impossible for words like these to come out of her mouth and yet that is what she wanted.

Amelia dreamed of a happy life constantly, but she knew it was impossible. She was aware that she could not escape death, after all it was her destiny to die. "Why is fate so cruel to me?" It was a question that was going through his head and that maybe it would never be answered.
