I'll Topple This Hierarchy

I stood up suddenly as I headed towards the door. A few butlers stood waiting as they bowed upon seeing me. "My lord. Let us accompany you to the bath." the men said in unison as I nodded an affirmation.

The butlers then escorted me to the bathroom as they stripped me and wiped down my body. I said nothing as I mentally slapped myself due to the awkwardness of the situation. It felt awkward since I was used to doing things by myself.

I knew that young masters and basically rich people had servants at their beck and calls but being wiped down and showered by men who clearly clean your body thoroughly is just plain embarrassing. I grew rigid as I felt them clean my little Sapphire. Ahhh... How embarrassing.

Time flew and I had finished my bath(feeling my soul departing my body). The butlers swiftly dressed me into a fine white coloured satin shirt. The sleeves were ruffled and there was a jabot(?) I think, adorning it. Uwah. How old fashioned. I have to say though, the outfit suited the character well, making him look more charming.

I was then ushered towards the dining room where I came face to face with the villain's mother. Her pale blue hair, an exact similar tone to mine fluttered gently as she turned to face me. "Ah. Sapphire, dear." she said softly as she smiled tenderly.

I get that Sapphire hated his name, however, why should he hate his parents? At the very least, they seemed to care about him a lot. Was he in his rebellious state?

As I assumed the role of a villain, I ignored her greeting and sat down at the dining table lined with breakfast dishes. How extravagant, I thought as I picked some pancakes to pair with my yogurt while pouring some honey over it.

The lengthy gazes and fidgets from the villain's mother were hard to ignore throughout the breakfast. I tried to quickly eat so as to leave the room but was stopped short when the villain's father entered.

The air felt oppressed and I could feel my hands begin to tremble. I turned towards the man only to feel my throat contracting, making it grow harder to breathe. Nevertheless, I steeled myself and dared a glance towards him.

My eyes caught his, similar crystal blue eyes, only harsher and colder. He had a serious look on his face and a shade of brownish-orange hair that reminded me of the sun.

I contemplated whether to greet him but instead stood to leave. "Wait. Sit down." the man said with his voice echoing in the room, sending shivers down my spine. My legs shook, causing me to fall back into my seat. I kept my eyes down casted at my empty plate as the oppressing air choked my airway.

"You finished eating already? I just arrived. You didn't greet me either... And from the looks of it, you didn't greet your mother either. How ill-mannered are you?" the man asked as he clicked his tongue. "Honey, don't be like that. I'm sure he didn't mean to..." Sapphire's mother said, trying to calm the man.

"Sapphire, I can only tolerate so much. How... How could you treat us, your parents this way?! Do you know how sad your mother is? Every night without fail, she cries herself to sleep. Because of you! Why are you acting up?" the man asked in a tone I couldn't make out. It was a mixture of anger and... sadness...

Silently I looked up towards my mother. She noticed me looking at her and smiled tenderly as the tears glimmering in her eyes slid down her pearl white cheeks. "Sapphire..." she said as she reached out to touch my face.

I thought I'd recoil but in the end didn't as she gently caressed my cheeks. "Is it... you resent us... because of your name?" she asked so softly I nearly asked her to repeat her question when I caught her beautiful yellow eyes, the colour rivaling a citrine gemstone looking directly into mine.

I didn't reply and averted my gaze from hers, not knowing what to say. My father stood up and walked over to my side, where he pulled my face out of my mother's grasp upwards to look at him.

I tensed up, feeling the cold sweat trickling down my back. I didn't know much about this character as he did not play too big of a role in the story but from the way my body was trembling, I suppose Sapphire was afraid of his father.

"Sapphire... your name... don't you know what it means?" my father asked, with a look that indescribable upon his face. "... Wh... what... It's just a girly name..." I replied, trying to brush off his hands from my face.

"Sapphire... holds a meaning where it bestows wisdom, virtue, good fortune, and holiness on a person... especially royalty... That's why we named you Sapphire... It was also due to the perfect combination of crystal blue eyes and sky blue hair you inherited from the both of us... Even if you despise us... We love you." my father said as his expression grew soft. I saw the sadness in his eyes and weary expression on his face as I came to realize that Sapphire wasn't abandoned by his family but was the one who abandoned them, all because he hated his name.

I gripped onto my father's hand as a tear shed from my eye. I glanced at him, staring straight into his eyes. "I... see... that's..." I choked, holding in the tears threatening to fall. It seemed as if Sapphire was waiting for them to say this to him as I felt a heavy weight lifted from my chest.

***

Though what happened during breakfast went against the plot, I'm still the villain of this story. That's why I should plan my next move and not dwell on this one. I hummed softly to myself as I peered out the windows, walking to my room.

If I'm not mistaken, the next scene would be tomorrow... when the crown prince finally shows up at the academy... Heh, since he'll be there, I may as well start planning on how to topple this hierarchy! I'll make him my slave! Then no one in the academy will dare go against me! What a brilliant plan!
