chapter 2: I believe you

At the dining area of the house, there are three people eating breakfast. The long table were filled with all sorts of food. The three people are Nolan Durante, Kier's father, Dara Durante, his step mom, and Jeorge Durante, his half brother.

The doorway of the dining room suddenly flung open. The three people stopped eating and stared at the person at the door. They frowned and Kier could feel the deep hostility in the eyes of his younger brother Jeorge.

Madam Dara quickly removed her frown and was replaced with a warm smile. "Kier, why didn't you tell us you were coming?" Madam dara said affectionately, breaking the silence. "Come here and eat" waved Madam Dara.

Although Madam Dara was warmly showing her affection to him, the hostility and killing intent depply hidden in her eyes did not escape Kier's eyes. Living in the apocalypse for almost 15 years, he experienced alot of things. From betrayals, assassinations, fighting just to get a morsel of food. He was always on alert in case something happens. This bit of trick won't work on him anymore.

Thinking back, he was so naive before the apocalypse happened. He was tricked alot of times because of his kindness. Even his own family tricked him then abandon him the next second. This time it will not happen again, he will not allow it.

"I want to talk to dad about something"

Hearing this, Jeorge sneered. Kier looked at him then looked at his father, waiting for his father's reply. His father didn't take long and put his utensils down and sat up.

Seeing this, Madam Dara reach for his husband's hand when she realized that he was about to leave with Kier and talk somewhere else. "Why don't you eat first and talk here?" She wanted to hear the conversation between them.

"No, I need to talk to dad. PRIVATELY" Kier slowly said, emphasising the word 'private'.

He saw madam Dara's face darken but he did not care and just walked out of the room to the garden. His father soon followed, father Nolan was confused, for this is the first time he has seen his son acting like this. The last time he saw kier, the kid was timid and did not dare to refuse anything that his wife would say. There must be something going on. He did not like his son, Kier, but atleast he should know why his son has requested to talk with him. This is the first time that his son initiated to talk to him.

"What is it?" asked father Nolan. He looked at his watch "Say it immediately, I don't have much time. I still need to go to the office before 7:30 A.M"

"Im dropping out of school" Kier didn't beat around the bush and said this as soon as he faced his father.

Father Nolan's eyebrows furrowed as he look at his son. Why was he suddenly dropping out of school? What is he thinking?

"Why?" he asked.

"I don't want to continue studying" Kier responded. This was the reason he could think of to get money from his father since his father would not give him that much money if he asked directly. Plus, society would collapse once the apocalypse descend.

"Just that?" Father Nolan asked inquisitively. He knew that this was not the only purpose of his for coming here. He has been in the business industry for more than four decades and would knew immediately the intention of the other party.

Kier smiled "Money. I need money" He said.

"And why would I give you money?" father nolan asked.

Kier knew that his father would not agree immediately. "Once you give me the money, I will not have anything to do with the family. I will cut any connections, as if I've never been born in the family." his eyes was unwavering, as if the words that he said mean nothing to him. Well, it didn't really meant anything to him. "And since I'm dropping out of school, I will not have any qualification to be the successor and I will withdrew from the family, making Jeorge the succesor."

His father was a bit shock but immediately regained his composure and accepted the deal with him. The Durante Clan did not like him, they have considered him an outsider and he was Nolan's shame. His wife's family also wants to get rid of Kier but Kier still has the protection of his sister's family from his mother so they could only swallow their anger and not make a move. The clan also has a golden rule that cannot be broken. The first child is to be the successor unless the child willingly withdrew, but if the first born wants to regain his position, the second child shall be stripped of his position as the succesor.

Seeing the money in his bank account, Kier's lips formed a slight smirk. There was a total of 100million dollars, just the huge numners of money could make an ordinary man faint from happiness. He was expecting that his father would only give him a few millions, it seems that his father doesn't really like the thought of him succeeding the family head position.

Even though Kier was known by the elite society as the bastard of the Durante family, he still has some bit of connections. He called the owner of the best food processing company, Mr. Jash and made an order. A big order of canned goods and even unprocessed meat. Mr. Jash was delighted at the huge transaction and assured to Kier that he will immediately send all the goods at the location sent by Kier.

The location was his manor at the suburbs of M city.

After the transaction with Mr. Jash, Kier didn't go or buy stuffs and instead went to a apartment complex near the downtown area. The apartment complex was 20 stories high and could be considered as a very decent place to live in. He went inside and press the number '16' on the elevator.

*Ding*

He stepped out of the elevator and pressed the door bell of the house number "1604". He waited for a few second untill someone opened the door. The one who opened the door was a young man in his teens, about 15 years of age. The young man looked up at the dashing man who looked like a model in front of him.

Confusion could be clearly seen in his young and innocent face. The boy looked cute coupled with his expression. "Who is it? Are you looking for someone?" the young boy meekly asked.

Looking at the boy, kier knew who it was. It was nate, the grandson of his ex-butler. In his past life, Nate was one of the greatest figures in the apocalypse. He was one of the people in the top 100 Heavenly Rankings, ranking at number 21. Nate was a gravity ability user in the apocalypse, which was a very rare ability. In his past life they were allies and brothers.

"Is grandpa Wei inside?" Kier smiled as he asked the child.

Nate nodded and called his grandpa. Soon, a man who looked like in his early 50's appeared. When grandpa Wei looked at who it was, he couldn't stop his tears from flowing out of his eyes. He let out a big smile and hugged Kier. Kier also hugged grandpa Wei back. He missed the old man. The old man was the one who took care of him since child but was fired by his step-mom two years ago.

"Come inside" Grandpa Wei joyfully said. Urging Kier to come inside as fast as he can.

"En" Kier responded

"Ah! This is Nate the one that I've been telling you." Grandpa Wei signalled Nate, who was standing at the side of the couch.

"Hello big brother Kier, I'am Nate" the young man intruduced himself. From the behavior of his granpa, he already knew who the man before him was.

Kier patted the head of Nate and also introduced himself.

"What brings you here? You only visited me now. I thought you've forgotten about me" Granpa wei joked.

Kier laughed and showed a sorry and guilty face.

"I'm just joking. I also knew why you weren't able to visit me" Grandpa Wei sighed.

Kier's step-mom strictly did not allow the two to meet and Kier also has to focus on his studies in the university to achieve a high score when he graduates.

"Grandpa Wei, I have something to tell you." Kier's face became serious. "Please listen to me."

When grandpa Wei saw his look of seriousness, he signalled Nate to go to his room first. The young man followed his grandpa's instruction immediately and went to his room.

"What is it?" granpa Wei asked, a bit worried.

"Whatever you hear from me, take it seriously." Kier warned. "Friday afternoon 3:30 pm, the world we now know will end. Creatures will evolve, there will be otherworlds and dimensions that will be connected to our planet through space cracks and wormholes and humans too, will evolve."

Silence

The room was filled with silence. Kier looked at grandpa Wei's expression. He was deep in thought and was contemplating about what Kier has said to him. It sounds crazy but there's a part in him that believed in what Kier said.

"I believe you" Grandpa Wei slowly said and looked at Kier's eyes.
