Chapter 4

"Now, now. Let's deal this in a civilised way." I recommend shakily as I held up both of my hands up in front of me, trying not to trigger the man’s anger while my gaze was fixed on the gun in his left hand.

It was right after the seven hesitant steps that I had taken towards the SUV when suddenly it's driver decided to hop out of the van and lunge towards me. Of course, I ran for my life—backwards to be exact which resulted in me easily getting caught and then shoved like sack of potatoes into the van before SUV drove away.

Well, I wouldn't have escaped even if I was running properly cause the taxi driver had driven away the moment he saw the scary driver running after me.

Such a gentleman, wouldn't you say?

In the SUV, after I got up to my feet, the first thing I saw was Ren, who was still unconscious and then the man who bought him. I was a little bit relieved that he didn't look as scary as his driver.

That driver could make a man want to pee his pants!!

The man had chocolate hair with a messy pomp hairstyle and broad shoulders. He was wearing black sun glasses and a full sleeved black turtle neck with black jeans. I could feel his eyes studying me as I continued to stand between the two seats, almost four feet away from him. I think he was at least two heads taller than me.

"Who are you?" He asked in an extremely calm yet dark tone which made the blood in my veins turn cold. I think I preferred him going all gangster on me. It would have made it less scary cause then I will know that he is angry.

I noticed a certain movement and lowered my gaze from his face towards his hands to see him loading a gun. "Why were you following us?"

I think I am having second thoughts about him being less scary than the driver.

It was at this point that I had stupidly recommended him to turn all civilised only to regret it later. He raised his gun and aimed it straight at my forehead before repeating the two questions again although this time the irritation in his calm tone was noticeable.

"Ah... My name is Linda Miler." I swallowed, my hands still in the air. "I-I was following y-you—!"

"Stop stuttering!" He ordered out of nowhere, making me jump. I unconsciously took a step back, my heart running a mile. I blanched.

Calm down.

My mind told me but I had other thoughts. I wanted to jump out of the car but my body forced me to stay frozen at the spot. My eyes widened when I noticed him move a finger towards the trigger. He was getting impatient.

I needed to calm down.

Biting my lip, I squeezed my eyes shut and took two quick silent deep breaths before opening them back again. "I followed you because you have my b-brother and I want him back like r-right now!" I said it all in one go, my soul now in mid air.

"I bought him so I have the right to have him." He said, not moving his finger away from the trigger while motioning his chin towards Ren.

"I know and I k-know that I can't pay you back the money you've paid for h-him so that's why I have a request!"

"A request?" He scoffed. "I don't need anything from a puny girl like you."

Yes, i knew that. I have thought all this through in the taxi. There was simply nothing else I could offer a rich man like him. The only money I had at the moment was less than $1500 which wouldn't be even be enough to pay a man to dig my grave.

Taking a deep breath, I gave it one more thought before furrowing my eye brows. "That's right but if you take me and sell me at a-another auction then you'll win back the money you used to buy Ren or gain even more." I recommend, now standing before of him with absolute confidence that he would definitely think about my offer. And he did. Only for a second though.

"What if I don't like your request?" He lowered his gun and leaned back in the seat. He moved his leg over the other and turned to look at Ren. "What if..." Grabbing Ren's face roughly with his free hand, he turned his face to the right side, making Ren face him. "I want something more than money."

"If you are g-gay then I can't help you there but if there is something else then I can assure you that I am way much better." I said, cautiously taking a seat — side ways that is. The ride was getting a little bumpy.

"And how's that?" He asked turning his attention to me. "You ain't a guy."

"Well, I guess I can dress up like one or s-something...." I contemplated whether to continue or not. I didn't know why he bought Ren so I didn't know what to say to make him consider my request. I leaned an inch forward on the seat, to getting a better view of Ren who was still unconscious.

What did they do to him to completely knock the light out of him?

"Getting two birds with one stone eh?" He smiled, raising his gun again before swirling it around his index finger. I tensed up in my seat, worried that he might accidentally shoot some one and if he does, I hope it's either himself or the driver. "Tell me, what happened to that master of yours?" He asked, casually — not really wanting to know the obvious answer.

"Um... he was getting on my nerves so... I knocked him out?” I answered, deciding to keep the other end of the story to myself. I knew that stealing $1500 was like stealing a quarter for people like him but I still would like to keep it to myself.

The guy hummed before leaning forward in his seat. I leaned a little back on a reflex but he stopped me buy immediately grabbing my face with his free hand. The moment I tried to pull away from him, he roughly pulled my face closer to his keep a distance of about a feet apart. I watched him with wide eyes, my eyes not escaping his which hid behind his sunglasses.

His strong cologne was making me dizzy.

Frowning, I blinked a few times and looked away, feeling light headed. My fingers were tingling, wanting to push his face away but I knew better not to. We stayed in the position for a about a minute before he finally spoke up in his dark tone. "I take up your request."

He finally let me go and I gasped for air. After a few deep yet silent inhales and exhales, I turned my attention back up to him when I heard the guy tell the driver to stop the car and told him to throw away the thrash in the car. Without even thinking, I knew that by 'trash' he meant 'Ren.'

"My home is not far away from here so can you please drop him off there?" I lied. I didn't know where we were or how far was our home was but it wouldn't hurt to try to drop Ren off at a much safer place then the streets. I didn't want him to go through all this again.

The guy ignored me while the driver parked the van in front of a small drug store.

No way are we dropping him off here!

"Please! Can we at least drop him off somewhere safe?"

"Do you think I care about what happens to him?" He said as I heard the driver open his door and stepped out of the van.

"Can we at least leave him to a nearby police station or something? I promise it won't take long!" I pleaded again, my gaze fixed on the driver who reached out his hand to open the door. I rushed towards the door and pressed the lock before the driver could open the door. "Please!!!" I glanced back at the guy once more.

The guy glared at me, clearly annoyed by my whining as the driver walk back to his seat and grabbed the car keys. He made his way back to the door and unlocked it causing me to turn my attention towards him.

"Head to the nearby police station or hospital!" The dark voice made the driver stop at his tracks and looked up to his master while I did the same. "And make it quick!" He growled, indirectly giving me a warning that the next time I decided to go against him, would be the day I'd loose my head.

As driver made his way back towards his seat, I thanked him before quietly taking a seat.

The rest of the ride was fast yet silent. I never took my eyes of my unconscious brother as he laid there peacefully. His mocha hair fell messily on his face and I fought he urge to go and gently comb it away from his face.

The Baka looks peaceful...

I bet he is going to blame himself if he found out about all this... but he will be fine as long he is back home.

A smile crept onto my lips as the image of my family crossed my mind but it disappeared as soon as it came when I felt the vehicle come to a stop.

This time, the driver didn't waste any time to hop off the van and open the back door. Leaning into the van, the driver gave me a death glare before heading towards Ren. I bit my lower lip as I silently watched the driver carry my brother out of the van, fighting the urge to pull Ren away from him.

As the driver tossed him at the hospital's front door — more like dumped him, I pulled out the remaining stolen money from my hoodie's pocket and held it up for the guy at the back to see before hopping off the van and walking towards Ren. The driver immediately stopped me from taking another step but when I showed him the money in my hand, he looked over his shoulder, towards the van for at least three seconds before letting me through. I am guessing he got approval from the other guy.

I crouched down to Ren's body and combed his mocha hair away from his face. I looked at him fondly before placing a kiss on his forehead. Time’s up!" The guy called out from behind me, clearly irritated.

It hasn't even been a fifteen seconds!

Rolling my eyes, I placed the money in my brother's trouser pocket with the driver keeping a close eye on me and then moved away from him.

/An hour later/

Ever sat in a car with a gangster in complete silence and receive death glares from the driver every time we stop at a traffic light from the rear mirror? No? Too bad cause let me tell you it's freaking horrifying!

It took us forever for us to reach our destination which was surprising the freaking airport.

How comforting!

*First, I get attacked at the pharmacy, then I get sold on an auction, then I knock my buyer out and steal his money, then I go to save Ren's ** and offer myself instead of him and then this!!! To think that all this happened in one night just because I need some freaking painkillers!! Speaking of painkillers, someone better get me one right now cause I am getting a hell of a headache again or on the second though, never mind. I don't want to go through this again.

Upon entering the airport, the guy had immediately ordered his driver to get me some new clothes because i looked like 'hobo'. That is the word he used to describe my natural beauty.

Rude much?

After I had changed into a pink buttoned up shirt and white skinny jeans along with new under garments — which I had forced the driver to buy with the money the guy gave him— in the bathroom, I asked the cleaning lady to lend me at least two more pads for my journey. Thankfully, the she was kind enough to lend me three of them for free.

I bet it's because she was taking pity on me. I mean I did look like a 'hobo' before I freshened up. And as for my brown uncombed hair, I had tied it up into a messy bun hoping that it would be okay for the time being.

At the airport, there were times when I just wanted to run away but the thought of them going after Ren if escaped made be have second thoughts.

Why don't I scream?

If I do that then they would gladly knock me out and then the driver would have to carry me like sack of potatoes again and no I don't want that. It's obvious that we are going somewhere and I want to know where it is so that I could at least calculate the amount of cash it would take to go back home after I escape — instead of being unconscious.

But who knew that the juice sample I was given by the flight attendance — while we waited the passengers to be seated — would contain sleeping pills?
