To Find A Reason

I should have known this was going to happen. I already knew what was gonna happen. Leo asking me out was just a facade so that Micheal could meet with me but I didn't like Micheal. The one that was in my heart and always would be was... Leo. Oh god, what have I done? I fell in love with him and I rejected him. And now he'll never know. I lay on my bed staring at the ceiling with tears slowly rolling down my cheeks. I have been crying more and more ever since the day of Leo's confession. In the past, I would never be able to cry so easily. I was even called the ice queen. Looking back, I probably would have never thought that Leo could fall for my quiet and cold self. I rolled on my side and wiped my wet eyes. Tomorrow was the day. The day that I would meet Micheal. He probably knows that I like Leo so I wonder why he wants to meet me. I lay thinking long and hard until my eyes slowly closed and I drifted off to sleep.

Sunday

What is he doing? A man should make a girl wait this long right? It was pretty cold and Cherry Park was empty. It was supposed to snow today but it there wasn't any snow. I kicked my feet around and observed the bushes nearby.

"Hey, Sky!"

I looked up. I knew it. It was Micheal. I shouldn't let him know that I knew his and Leo's plan.

"Why are you here? Where's Leo?"

"He said something came up and I came in his place."

His excuse was too obvious but I didn't say anything.

"So what do you want? Leo told me to meet him here and since he isn't here and you are, you wanna go somewhere?"

"Yeah it's pretty cold, isn't it? Let's go to that bakery that was nearby."

Was this planned out by the two of them? Well, I guess it was fine. I did feel bad that I was going along with this but he deserved it. Mike was only using Leo anyways and didn't see him as a friend so I'll just silently play along. As long as he doesn't find out that I know, then it should be fine.

We arrived at the shop and ordered some food and sat down. The bakery had a nice atmosphere to it and was pretty warm too. There were small little ornaments of little cute bears and wolves and the shop's wallpaper was decorated with cherry blossoms and sunflowers. It was a bit too cute for my taste but it must have been even more uncomfortable for Mike. I peeked over and a giggle escaped from my mouth.

"What? Why are you laughing?"

Imagine seeing a buff football guy with brown curly hair and mean eyes sitting in a cute shop with his hands crossed and looking as though he wanted to make a run for it. That was what he looked like to me and I couldn't help but laugh. Even though he was a jerk at some times, he was still a good friend of Leo's and was one of the few people who could talk to me casually or even talk to me at all.

"No, it's nothing. It's just been a long time since I've seen you this nervous Mike."

"You finally called me Mike again."

I looked up and he smiled at me. A bit awkward but it was a warm smile. It was true. Since Leo's accident, I haven't talked to him much and I stopped calling him by his nickname too.

"Um, I forgot to say this last time but sorry."

"For what?"

"That time in the class. I pushed you too much so sorry."

I smiled. He really was one of Leo's friend.

"It's fine. Not like I could do anything anyways."

"Aren't you Leo's best friend? Don't you have any ideas on how to get his memories back?"

I looked down and just sighed. It seemed as though Leo never told him how much time he had left.

"There's no point."

"What do you mean 'no point' Sky?! Don't you want him to get his memories back?"

The waitress came by and put down our order. She smiled and left in a hurry.

"Calm down Mike. It's not like he needs to have his memories back or anything. "

"Are you being serious right now Skyler? I thought of all people, you would be the one who would want his memories back the most."

"You don't know anything Mike. Shut your mouth."

" OH, I DON'T KNOW ANYTHING? THEN WHAT SHOULD I KNOW? IS THERE A REASON WHY YOU DON'T WANT TO GET HIS MEMORY BACK? IF SO, THEN TELL ME!"

At this point, his voice was raised so loudly that people were looking over. I got up, grabbed his hand and dragged him out of the shop while apologizing to the staff.

"Where are we going, Skyler? You still need to explain."

I silently dragged him along trying my best to keep my anger in until we got back to the park.

I let go of his hand and faced him.

"What?"

"Do you really want to know why it doesn't matter? Do you really believe that I don't want to get his memories back?"

"What other reason would there be for you to avoid him and say that there was no point in getting his memories back?"

"BECAUSE HE'S GOING TO DIE! THAT'S WHY! WHAT IS THE POINT OF GETTING HIS MEMORIES BACK IF HE'S GOING TO DIE ANYWAY!" EVEN IF HE GETS HIS MEMORIES BACK IT'S NOT LIKE HE'LL STILL BE ALIVE AFTERWARDS!

"What?"

Tears were now streaming down my face again and it began to snow.
