Leo was going to die. Die? Why? Why Leo? Is it my fault? He can't die. Not yet. Tears streamed down my eyes endlessly as my head was filled with emotions. I looked up and asked the doctor.
"Can you cure him?"
He shook his head. There was no hope. The little amount of hope from when I thought Leo would get his memories back diminished. There was no point in getting it back anymore. No way to save him. There was absolutely nothing I could do.

Standing alone in that hallway was stressful. There were always people walking past but I did not recognize anyone. Skyler and my mother were taking awhile and I didn't want to interrupt anything. I counted the spots on the ceiling and stood there. I didn't think of anything. I just counted the spots.
Leo I'm ----- .
What was that. I looked around. I thought I heard a voice but there was no one there. Maybe I was hallucinating. Maybe I unconsciously remembered something. I feel as though I heard someone say something. And the voice was familiar. But I couldn't remember who said it. There was no point thinking about it. I heard footsteps and looked down the hall. My mother and Skyler were back but there faces were streaked with marks from tears. What did the doctor tell them. Maybe I might not be able to get my memories back? I didn't want to pry so I left them alone and we walked to the car. The ride back to Skyler's house was quiet and no words were uttered. We dropped her off and went home.

"Leo. I need to tell you something."
"Mom? What's wrong? Why are you crying? Did something happen?"
"Leo listen to me. I will say this once and only once. You have only one year left to live. I'm sorry Leo. I'm sorry I couldn't protect you. I'm sorry for not looking after you. I'm sorry honey."
She was sobbing while talking and I stood there staring at her. What?

I locked the door to my room and flopped on my bed. Then the tears came again. Being in the car with Leo was too hard. Knowing that he would die was too evil. Nothing could be done. I knew this but I wanted to believe that it was a dream. Let it be a dream. I cried and cried until I drifted. I drifted into old memories. Memories of me and Leo.

Empty space. A road of sand leading to who knows where. A little girl with a fox mask stood in front of me. She lifted one arm and beckoned towards me. I held my hand out and reached for hers. But no matter how far I reached I could not grab it. She turned around and started to walk. She tilted her head towrds me and beckoned me again. I tried to follow but something was holding me back. I looked down at my feet. It was covered by a shadow. The shadow crept up and strangled my arms. I screamed but nothing came out. The girl was still walking, leaving me behind. The shadow was getting bigger until it engulfed me into the darkness, my hands still trying to reach for the girl.
