Chapter 3

Vince was in the middle of his meeting when he read the message from his son that they were on the way to the hotel to eat lunch with him and according to his son, his princess was insisting so hard of going where he was and kept on throwing a tantrums, since he left early today that he wasn't able to wait for them to wake up and have breakfast with them.

That message put a huge smile on his stoic face, seeing his kids and hearing their voices would always brighten his day no matter how stressful or complicated it went. He would always put them first before anything else, for they're the best gifts his beautiful wife have ever given him. Besides, he promised his wife that he would take care of their twins, the way she did.

For two years since his wife disappeared only his twins, who were now turning 4 years old in a few months, could put a smile on his face unlike before. They're his happy pills but he knows that only his wife would be the best antidote to his gloominess.

"Vince, would you like to join us for lunch outside? We made a reservation on a newly open restaurant, a few blocks from here." One of his colleagues, a friend of his parents, invited him right after their meeting.

"Some other time, Uncle. My twins probably arrived for our lunch date and you know how those two are, very picky when it comes to food." He refused.

"You can't blame them, Nina is the best chef we know and having the best meals everyday in a very young age could really spoil others from their tastebuds." The other commented.

It was really so difficult to coax the twins to eat after the accident, they were always looking for the foods that their mom made that they would always threw tantrums especially Vander.

At least now, even though it was not their mom who prepared their meals as long as it tasted close to their mom's, they won't whine but only the chefs in the hotel and his cook at home could cook that way since his wife had cooked with them that they have copy of his wife's recipe and knew how she cooked, so the twins never eat outside except for the hotel.

"Then, maybe you and your kids could join us, Vince." Mr. Dillon interjected. "Me and my family would have our lunch at the hotel's restaurant, I'm heading there now."

He knew what Mr. Dillon was up to, he never failed in matchmaking him and his daughter, Julia. He just let them to do what they want but he wasn't really interested, he's very much faithful to his wife and he wants to brag to her when she returns that he never, not even once, looked at other woman in two years of her absence.

"That would be g~"

"Sir..." Holly, his secretary for five years, cut in. It seems something urgent came up based on the worry look on her face. "Kelly just called. Ahm~"

His eyes widen and fear rose in him, Kelly is one of his twins' nanny. "What?! What happened?"

Holly frowned. "Sir, the twins ran off again inside the hotel and they couldn't find them."

He sighed in relief, if the twins were in the hotel's premises then they're safe since the security in his hotel is very tight but it seems that they're making troubles again.

Ever since, the car accident that caused the death of his wife's driver and rendered her to be in comatose state before she suddenly disappeared, he became so paranoid about the safety and security of his twins whenever he's not with them.

"Tell Kelly to keep looking, I'll be down in a moment." Holly just nodded and leave before he turned to Mr. Dillon. "You can go ahead to meet your family, Mr. Dillon. I'll just look for my kids then we'll join you in the restaurant."

"Okay, then~"

"Daddy!"

They both turned to the door when someone cut in again on their conversation. It was Julia Dillon with a scowled face, she looked so annoyed and he noticed that her white dress have a stain which appears to be coffee, it seems that she got into a fight but the question is who have the courage to oppose Julia Dillon?

"What happened, Sweetie?" Mr. Dillon asked anxiously. "Where's your mom?"

"Mom is on her way but that's not the problem!" Julia yelled with a scowl. "Look what happened to my dress and my arms! Some tramp pour hot coffee on me then took Shaina and Vander away!"

His forehead creased upon hearing the names of his kids. "What?!"

Julia turned to him with a teary-eyes. "That tramp was grasping the twins' arms tightly and dragging them, I was about to stop her but she did this and twisted my arms then pushed me to the floor everybody at the lobby saw that."

He immediately ran out of the conference room to the elevator, both father and daughter followed him.

"Didn't anyone stopped her?! What's the use of our security guards if they couldn't even stop a dangerous woman?!" He yelled in frustration and anger.

"Vince, calm down." Julia coaxed him. "Everyone was stunned of what happened that nobody could act quickly to stop her."

"Calm down?! How can I calm down when my kids are in danger?!" 

He needed to be quick before that woman could take the twins far that he couldn't caught up to rescue his kids from that woman's hands. He already lost his wife and losing the twins would make him insane, so he keep on praying for his kids safety.

"Where did they went?" He asked Julia rashly when they entered the lift.

He would never forgive whoever that person who hurt his kids, he'll make sure she'll regret that she touched his kids. He don't care if it was a woman, when it comes to the people he loves, he could do anything even it means he have to be the bad guy.

"T-The hotel's restaurant..." Julia answered stuttering. "I think that's where that woman took the twins."

"Huh?" He looked at Julia confusely.

Why would that woman took his kids to the restaurant instead of leaving the hotel's premises. Is that woman crazy or something?

"I think we should call the police, Vince." Mr. Dillon suggested. "How dare that woman hurt two Andreiage and a Dillon! I can't overlook this!"

"Dad, what's important for now is to get the kids away from that woman, she might do something to the twins." Julia said in a softly.

"We still need to call the police." Mr. Dillon insisted.

He's still worried but he's now calm since they're only at the hotel's restaurant but he called the security to don't let that woman and his kids out of the restaurant, much more, out of the hotel until he got there.

"You should have eaten first before heading here, kids in your age must eat their meals on time. Look at the time." Shane scolded the two kids who're eating messily so she keeps on alternately wiping the sauce scattered on their faces. "You won't grow taller if you keep eating way passed meal time."

Therese ordered meatball spaghetti for Shaina and Vander while both of them have numerous of dishes since she have to familiarize herself to the hotel's menu.

"We want to eat lunch with daddy." Shaina answered.

Vander sighed. "Shaina was being a brat, Mommy. She keeps on insisting that we go here to eat lunch with daddy even though I told her that daddy is very busy."

Shaina glared at Vander. "It's because I didn't get to see daddy this morning and he didn't have breakfast with us like he used to."

"But still you must understand that daddy is busy, we can't bother him all the time." Vander retorted.

Shaina pouted. "But he said that we can bother him no matter how busy he is because we're very precious to him since we're the best gift mommy gave him."

Something stirred in Shane's chest with what Shaina stated, it appears that their father loves there mother so much. Yeah, for every parents, their children are very precious and great blessings or gifts from God but in her perspective, a man who would consider his kids as the best gifts that the love of his life could ever give him, it meant a lot for a woman.

"But we mustn't abuse it, right, Mommy?" Vander looked at her that she only answered with a nod. "See, even mommy agrees with me."

Shaina clinged to her left arm while pouting. "But, Mommy, I misses daddy that I wanted to be with him always."

She slightly pinched Shaina's chubby cheeks. "Baby, daddy needs to work so we mustn't always bother him since he's working for the both of you, to be able to give you both your needs and even your wants. So, sometimes you should listen to your brother and before you bother daddy call him to know if he's busy or in a middle of something like a meeting, do you understand?"

"But I want to be always with daddy." Shaina now is teary-eyed.

She sighed and encaged Shaina in her arms. "I know daddy also wants that but he must do his work because daddy has so much responsibilities, since daddy is the CEO, the decision-maker in this hotel and the other businesses under him, if daddy don't work then many of his employees might lose their jobs like Aunt Therese, do you want that?"

Shaina shook her head. "No. Everyone here would be sad and I don't want that."

Therese grinned and signed thumbs up at her, she just rolled her eyes.

"But you can ask daddy to take you and your brother out when he's free to be able to bond with him like in the weekends." She said to cheer her up which worked effectively since Shaina immediately smiled while nodding. "Go finish your food."

"See how stubborn she is." Vander commented.

"See how cold he is, Mommy." Shaina retorted.

"Mommy, see how bratty she is."

Shaina glared at her brother. "See how stiff he is."

"See~"

"Okay, break it off. Enough with the 'see-how' and please don't argue in front of the food, it might spoil it." She interjected then sighed.

"It's Vander's fault, he's always bullying me." Shaina pouted and crossed her tiny arms in front of her chest.

"It's because you're always being a brat."

"I said enough." She scolded. "Just finish your foods and stop arguing."

Both kids nodded and continue eating.

Therese laughed. "It seems only their mother could really disipline them easily, if it was their father, it would be a lot of shouting that would turn into a squabble since Vince really spoiled them too much that they rarely fear him."

"But you know that I'm not really their~you know." She said in a whisper so that the kids won't hear their conversation.

"But still they listen to you." Therese creased her forehead and said in a whisper too. "If I haven't saw your resume and credentials, then I would've also thought that you're her."

"How did she disappeared?" She asked Therese curiously. "Did she leave without any word?"

Therese shook her head. "She met a car accident and was in a comatose state of over a month then suddenly she disappeared in her hospital suite and there wasn't any kind of video footage to explain what happened or how she was able to disappear, since then we haven't heard any news about her and it's been two years already."

"Someone took her." She said. "A comatose patient who just woke up after over a month can't easily move and abruptly leave without the help of someone else."

Therese shrugged. "Yeah, we thought so, too."

Could it be a lover or a rival? A lover who can't stand being away from her anymore or a rival who wants to get rid of her? Kidnapped for ransom can't be the reason of her disappearance since it's been two years, who would detain someone for two years just for money without calling her family to informed that they abducted Nina, right? That's absurd.

"Vander! Shaina!"

The four of them quickly turned to look at the person who called the kids, Vander and Shaina smiled when they saw who was it.

It was a very handsome and hunky man that Shane couldn't help drooling over him, she really can't avert her eyes away from him and even her heart  was beating so fast, that she thinks she's having a mild cardiac arrest. She never saw or meet a man as gorgeous as him in the entire 27 years of living on this earth.

"Daddy!" The kids ran to the man who's now crouching to welcome the kids into his arms and gave them a peck on their heads. "We miss you."

"Shane, you're drool is falling." Therese told her with a grin.

She glared at her when there's nothing to wipe around her mouth. Therese was just teasing her and she even laughed heartily at her expense.

"You guys made me worried." The man said while tightly hugging the kids. "Are you both alright?"

"Yeah, we're alre~"

"Oh my gosh! Thank God you're both alright."

That annoying voice made her and Therese to abruptly turned their heads to the direction where that voice was coming from. That crazy woman still have the guts to come near the kids after what she did to Shaina, a few minutes ago.

"I was so worried." What an actress she is? She even have the gall to touch Shaina's injured arm which was her own fault. "Look what that crazy tramp did to your pretty arm, Shaina. Are you okay? We should p~"

Shaina pulled her tiny arms away from Julia's hold. "I'm fine after what y~"

"Vince..." Julia cut in before Shaina could finish what she's saying. "I think we should bring her to the hospital to check on her arm, it might be fractured."

She really wants to hang that crazy woman upside down as a punishment. She's so shameless!

"My sister doesn't need your concern." Vander chided while shielding her sister from the crazy woman.

"Vander, be nice." The man scolded Vander. "Julia is just worried since a bad woman took you."

What?! A bad woman? Is he referring to her?

What did that crazy woman told this man to make her the bad woman? What a big fat liar?!

That woman was really trying her patience! Does she really thinks that she's bluffing that she can ruin that crazy woman's reputation? Well, she definitely wrong. She should just wait and see what Shane Dowell was capable of.

Vander creased his forehead. "Who are you talking about, daddy? If there's a bad woman here, it should be Miss Julia and no one else."

The man sighed. "I'm talking about the woman who brought you here at the restaurant."

Shane immediately stood then crossed her arms in front of her. "Excuse me. I think you're referring to me but I think you got the story wrong, Mister."

The man and the crazy woman looked at her while the twins ran to her and clinged to her hips. The man looked so surprised while the crazy woman sent deadly stares at her.

"Nina..."
