Regina Mendoza
He said it's fine for you to continue as long as it doesn't affect your assignment.

He really said that?
Regina Mendoza
Anyways, you can use my basement if you'd like.
Natalie Darson
O-okay, sure. Thanks
[The call ended and Natalie put her phone back in her pocket with a smile on her face.]

(YES! I can finally do my research about the History of witches!)
[Natalie continued to walk along the sidewalk, walking pass the crowd. She noticed the man in a hoodie still following her.]
Natalie Darson
(That hoodie guy really is interested in me, huh? What does he want with me?)
[Natalie fasten her pace and so did the hoodie guy. She went to an abandoned building where one was around. The hoodie guy followed he as she had expected.]
[Natalie stopped walking, pulling out a knife from her pocket and hiding it in her sleeve.]

[turns around]
Natalie Darson
You know, Mr. hoodie guy, you're really bad at BLENDING yourself with the crowd.
[The hoodie guy, stopped walking just a few meters away from Natalie.]
Natalie Darson
(I don't know what this guy is up to. Judging from his looks, he's shorter than me and his hand are in his pockets which he might be hiding a weapon in there. He's also wearing a mask to prevent me from seeing his face.)
Natalie Darson
(His possible methods would be kidnapping me or killing me.)
Natalie Darson
(Well, whatever it is....that ain't happening--)
[The hoodie guy suddenly raised his hand towards her. A ball of yellow light suddenly went to her direction. Natalie managed to dodged it so it hit the wall of the building instead causing the wall to crack.]

(What was THAT?!)
Natalie Darson
(He has...magic?)
[A ball of yellow light appeared on the hoodie guy's hand again and charged towards Natalie.]
[He hit the wall of the building again. His eyes widen when Natalie suddenly disappeared. He looked around frantically as he has lost his target. All of a sudden, he felt a presence behind him so he turned around. It was then when Natalie hit the guy's neck before he could even attack. The guy fell to the ground unconcious.]

You may have magic, but I've trained myself to handle witches like you.
Natalie Darson
And if you're a witch...
[Natalie leaned down and took off the mask of the hoodie guy.]

Then I guess I mistook you for a man.

huggh! Finally got the groceries!

I wonder what time it is...

[checks phone]

(It's almost time for lunch. I need to get home.)

(I wonder where Natalie went.)
[Scarlet walked through the streets on her way to home for 15 minutes. She was about to get in the gate to her house when she saw a big truck parked just in front of their house.]
[She saw some men unloading some large boxes, bringing them inside the house.]
[Natalie came out talking to a man. Scarlet immediately walked up to her to ask about what's going on.]

Oh, Scarlet you're back.

[gives money to the man he was talking to]

Thank you for today.
[The man went back inside the truck along with the other men after putting all the packages inside the house. Natalie watched as the truck drove away turning to a corner and disappeared. She could feel the stare from Scarlet's eyes.]

What the HECK is going on?
Scarlet Mendoza
Mind explaining it to me?
[Natalie looked at Scarlet with pure joy in her eyes. This only made Scarlet raise an eyebrow.]

Ohh that must be heavy, let's get inside first.
[Natalie took the first bag of groceries and went ahead to go inside the house while Scarlet followed in utter confusion.]
[They both put the bags of groceries at the kitchen counter.]
Scarlet Mendoza
Now, explain.
Natalie Darson
From now on Scarlet, I'm gonna be using the basement.

Well, it's kind of a long story.

Then summarize it.
Natalie Darson
Ugh, let me just show you.
[Natalie went to the living room where all of the packages were placed. Scarlet followed in wonder.]

[opens one of the boxes]

These, are my tools and equipments I use for my research. I also do quite a few experiments.

Yeah, I have never told you what my job was, haven't I?

You totally didn't.
Natalie Darson
Well, before I became your nanny, I was once part of a team of researchers in an organization. I can't go much into details because it can't be known to public. I hope you understand, right?
Scarlet Mendoza
Sure, I guess.
Natalie Darson
Okay, then...

You've heard of witches, right?
Scarlet Mendoza
Yeah, I actually thought they weren't real until our History teacher taught us about it. They actually helped us solve the global pandemic back in 2020.
Natalie Darson
Right. But, only little information are known about them. The Queen who is currently ruling England are still keeping them a secret. Even though we already know they existed.
Natalie Darson
That's why, me and my team have been studying about them.
Natalie Darson
But, it was cut short when we had to stop for some reason.
Natalie Darson
But now I'm gonna continue the studying about witches. Isn't that great?!
Scarlet Mendoza
Well, I guess.
Natalie Darson
I bet you're hungry, let me cook lunch for us.

Scarlet, I'm gonna go clean up the basement, okay?

Since I don't really have anything to do today.
Natalie Darson
Sure! That would be great.
[Scarlet helped Natalie clean up the basement. After a few hours, they started carrying the boxes into the basement, unpacking each one of them and arranging them.]

Phew! Those were heavy! Wish we had a man in this house.
Natalie Darson
Nah, we girls can do it on our own. We don't need men in our lives.
Scarlet Mendoza

Natalie Darson

Scarlet Mendoza

[Scarlet said as she tries to mimic the way her mother talked and moved, that sent Natalie bursting in laughter.]

Y-yeah...I'm fine. Let's continue.
Detective Martinez
Are you sure? You might have a cold.

No no, I'm fine. I need to finish today so I'll have something to report to Boss.

Detective Martinez
Ah, right. We've been searching here....

I'm gonna get some chips, I'm kind of hungry from all that work.

Get me one too. I'll be waiting at the basement.
[Natalie went to the basement. She looked in awe at her new mini office. She couldn't really get all her stuff since it wouldn't fit in this basement so she just got everything that was needed. She went to open the last box that were filled with old books and put them on her shelf except for a few, which she put on her desk and started to opening it.]

(So far...all we know about witches is that most of them live in England. Some witches were discovered to have lived accross Europe....)

About their abilities to use magic spells and to perform rituals....
[Scarlet arrived in the basement and put a bag of chips on Natalie's desk. Her eyes caught some old books that were placed on the desk. She opened one of them and found some strange drawings.]

These books are what I found when I was searching an old house back in my country.

I believe these were the journals written by some old witches.

By the way, I'm gonna need to check on those scars of yours.
