Promise

Tae's POV

I woke up by the sun brightly shining to my face. I rubbed my eyes and realised I was sleeping on the couch.

I flickered my eyes searching for Jungkook.

The memories of the night before started to replay into my head. My Face turned red remembering our kiss. I started to think how was I gonna face him now.

I got up and stretched a little making my way to my room.

Suddenly the door bell rang. I got confused because I don't have any classmates who I would invite over and neither did Jungkook, as far as I know.

With a confused face, I went over to the door.

I opened it and got met with an unknown pair of eyes.

"Hello.. I'm Jimin. Nice to meet you. And you are..?" the unknown person said as he offered me a handshake.

"Hi I'm Taehyung. How can I help you?" I asked politely.

"Hey Taehyung I'm your new roommate!" Jimin beamed.

"Sorry, what? I guess you got a wrong room. I already have a roommate" I awkwardly shook his hand.

"Oh? I'll check the school site once again. But I'm pretty sure I got the correct room." Jimin said and went over to search in his phone.

A minute or two later, he showed me his phone which had the correct room number.

Now I was confused as hell.

I let him enter and made my way to my room checking for Jungkook.

I got in and didn't find anyone. I checked the bathroom too but there was no one.

By now I was really panicking.

I searched every corner of the house but there was no sign of him.

Then something hit me.

I got over to Jimin.

"Hey Jimin! Can I get your room keys?! Please!!" I asked panicking.

"O-of course. There you go... " he handed me the keys.

I sprinted up to the room and unlocked the door.

No one.... Not a single thing was there......

Many past memories hit me like a truck.

What happened the day next to his accident day...

Jungkook always used to ask me what if he wasn't there anymore? But I just used to shrug him off like nothing.

He never met anyone except me...

Was I the only one that used to see him?

He never actually entered his room...

Did he d-die in that car a-accident?

Tears started flowing through my eyes endlessly.

I cried my heart out on the feeling of losing Jungkook. I let my body drop on the floor as I was already a crying mess.

Was my mind playing tricks on me all these years...?

I felt broken like hell. It was like my heart was shattered into million pieces.

"Taehyung!! Are you alright?!!" Jimin screamed from behind me seeing my condition. "D-do you have any known person here?"

"J-Jin h-hyung.." I managed to say between my sobs.

He got out of the room probably calling for Jin hyung from my phone.

I was left alone all by myself.

I felt kind of emptiness inside of my heart which was making me weak.

Sun rays were brightening the room from the glass windows.

My eyes were focused on a glass piece that was lying on the floor. It was shining so brightly and attracting me towards it.

My body was no longer in my command. My hands were moving on their own.

I picked up the glass piece and placed it on my wrist wanting to end this life right away and go to meet the love of my life in the afterlife.

"Don't do it..." a voice said from behind me which made my hands stop.

The most wanted figure came into my range of view.

"..you're not real..." I quietly said between my sobs.

"I'm sorry TaeTae but I'm just a piece of your memory that eventually had to go..." he said as tears also streamed down his face.

"D-don't go" I pleaded him.

"TaeTae... I have no choice. I've waited long enough..."

"K-Kookie..." my eyes were swollen from crying.

"TaeTae, I didn't take the accident on your account that day to see you commit suicide today.. now drop it and start your new life..." he said as he came towards me and got my hands in his own.

I was engulfed by a comfortable feeling just by his slight touch.

His hands made me drop the glass piece from my hands.

"J-Jungkook..." I kissed his hands and started to cry again.

"Tae... promise me one thing... please?" he asked lifting up my face.

"I-I could do a-anything for you..."

"Promise me to live your life for not only youself but for me too..." Jungkook said.

With that said, I kissed him slowly, even though I knew it wasn't real.

"I promise I'll live for the both of us.." Tae said parting their lips.

This was the only thing Jungkook ever wanted to hear in the past decade or so..

Jungkook smiled beautifully at me and then parted his hands from mine.

"D-don't go... " my pleading was in vain because I also knew, he had stayed for too long for me. I couldn't hold him for myself any longer.

I have to let go of him...

He smilingly departed from my embrace and towards the sun rays which were coming through the window.

His body started to disperse into those light rays. He gestured me to smile for the last time.

I smiled towards him and he smiled his bunny smile.

"Goodbye... TaeTae..." these were his last words before dispersing into eternity.

"Goodbye.... my Kookie... I love you...." I smiled while crying seeing the love of my life going to his peace...

I slumped down in the floor again as tears started to stream again.

"Taehyung!!" a familiar voice beamed from behind me, entering the room.

I held onto Jin hyung as tightly as I can and cried my heart out on his shoulders.

Jimin also patted my back to comfort me.

Jungkook I will live for both of us... I promise you...

I will love you forever....
