It was six in the morning when Leila received a call from home. “Dad?” She was surprised to see his name on the screen. “Honey, where are you?” She can sense the worry in his tone. “I’m in my townhouse, dee.”

“Are you?” His voice seemed worried. “Yeah, anyway dee, I need to drop the call. I’m not feeling well.” Leila lied again. Her father was silent for a while. “Okay honey take care. Don’t forget to take your meds.”

Leila was silent for a while. What is she doing in this miserable place? She got up from her bed and packed her things. She’ll quit her job; she can pay for the damage of breaching the contract. After staying here for weeks, she's still clueless. It is true that Althea was Ezequiel’s biggest client, but it’s not enough. Maybe she was wrong all along, maybe it’s not Althea that she saw in the café. She can’t even find a good evidence to prove her suspicion. She’s making her father worried and she can’t take these lies anymore.

After fixing herself, she went to the living room and found Ezequiel having a phone call with his client. He was sitting in the sofa with a cup of smoking coffee in the table.

“Yeah, Mrs. Monoban, we can talk the details later.” Leila froze when she heard the voice from the other line. Her heart skips a beat, and she was shaking in anger.

“Okay, I’ll see you in the same place.” She slowly walk away before he can notice her presence.

Ezequiel raised his brows when he ended the call. He chuckled and take a sip of his coffee.

Leila came out of her room again after calming herself, she was hoping he didn’t notice her eavesdropping in his calls. She went to the kitchen and cooked the breakfast. “Leila..” She jumped in surprised when she heard his baritone voice. Ezequiel was leaning in the door with his arms crossed.

“How long have you been here?” She asked senselessly, as if she was not talking to her boss. “Few minutes ago, I was asking for a coffee, but it seems you’re in dazed.” Leila gulped; she was hoping that he didn’t noticed her anxious face.

“I’m fine..” His eyes were fixed on her, Ezequiel’s flat expression almost made her spill his coffee. “Watch out.” He took the coffee from her.

By the way, why is he asking for another cup of coffee? Leila thought, “Why are you asking for a—” Leila cut her sentence when she realized that it’s a trap.

“Why I am asking for what? A cup of coffee?” Ezequiel asked, his stern gaze is dangerous. “No, if I’m okay.” Her immediate reply saved her from the situation. He chuckled and take a sip of his coffee. “It’s too sweet, I don’t like sweet things.”

Leila want to roll her eyes, “how picky” she thought. Ezequiel put the coffee in the kitchen counter. “By the way, I have a meeting tonight so don’t include me for dinner.” He left the kitchen after saying it.

So, they are meeting tonight? She clenched her fist.
