Self- Protection

After Olivia had finished making up all of the work and tests that she missed from absent due to the injury. The teachers were impressive with her work after they are done checking, and asked her,

“ Wow Olivia! You have got all of these questions correct!” Then they started to talked about how before she used to get none of the questions correct and she always had the lowest grade in class.

“ Uh.. That’s because I have been studying hard enough while I was resting.” she said that, instead of saying she remembered all the notes during the first period. Learning is the greatest skill that all aliens are good at, they could remember all of the things that they learned in a second. That’s why Olivia could memorize all the notes in a short amount of time.

Her teachers were really surprised how she really improved in just a week.

When Olivia is on her way home, she hears someone behind her, her face turned annoyed as she knows the person by voice.

“ Hey! Wait up!” Alex said to Olivia as he is running to her.

“ Why did you ignore me when I was talking to you during class?” he asked with an innocent face.

“ I don’t talk to anyone who I barely know.” She replied.

“ But, I was trying to ask you for help on one of the problems.” He explained in the voice that Olivia immediately knew that he’s not.

“ Well, you can ask the teacher for help, who is better at explaining than a student who always has lower grades.” She is still trying to let him see the perspective of old Olivia.

“ But…” As Alex is trying to get close to her, she steps back.

“ Don’t get close to me.” She warned.

“ Otherwise you will regret it.”

Alex is shocked by the way she reacts as people trying get close to her.

“ You really have changed a lot Olivia…” he said in a sad voice.

“ What really happened to you in the past week?” he still doesn’t believe that she is not the same Olivia that he used to know anymore.

“ It’s none of your business.” Olivia answered coldly.

“ I won’t warn you the second time when you get close to me, I’m not as nice as those girls.” said Olivia. Then she walks away without hesitating.

Alex is still shocked by the way she talks to him and keeps the distance from everyone now. He starts to think back before her injury, a girl who always smiles no matter how she get bullied by those students, she used to stay happy like the sun no matter how bad the weather is, nothing will upset her. But now, she has changed completely, cold, and distant to everyone.

“ I’m sorry that I was unable to protect you from back then.” He said in a low voice to the shadow of Olivia, even though he knows she won’t hear him.
