THE LETTER

My dearest Victor

If you are reading this, it just means I'm no longer around. I've written this letter a thousand times and a thousand times I've pondered on what to say. As the day passed by and you grow up into a man, I worried about the day I won't be able to provide you the life you're supposed to have. I want you to know that you are my son, but you are not your father's son. Not a day in life I pray to someday set you free from him, but I have failed for I am not strong enough to do that.

My true name is Joe Chen, I am one of the daughter of Chairman Chen of Chen Group. My relationship with my father who is your grandfather broke since I fell in love with your father. I decided to follow my heart and since then your grandfather has broke all connection with us.

Regarding your father, do you recall the man who always comes and visit you during your birthday? That man is the love of my life and your dear father. Victor you are the rightful heir of Chen group however your grandfather does not know you exist. Sad to say, my sister married into the Feng Family and has a son who will be the heir. But with the help of Nicholas I'm sure you'll be able to stand up and take it back.

Victor, Nicholas is mine and your father's best friend. He has worked under your father for a long time and he's your father trusted friend. Follow him and he will guide you in how to live a better life. Trust him and don't be weary, he will not harm you and treat him like part of the family.

I know you are angry and upset with us, but Victor we tried our best but it seems it was not enough. I want you to know we really love you and hope you live a life filled with you and no longer in pain.

Victor clasped on the letter as he pulled out the photo of her mother and father celebrating his birthday when he was still a child.

Instead of heading home, Victor headed to the location Nicholas told him where he was staying.

It surprises him to be standing in front of such grand hotel. He felt so awkward when he walked in since he was still soaked from the rain, the people in the hotel, including the staff started whispering as they stared at him.

"Has the hotel lost its standard."

"Why did they just let someone like him inside?"

Everyone felt the same as they started complaining to the staff. Victor, who stood still near the entrance ignored them until the manager of the hotel approached him.

"Young man, if you're not a guest at this hotel please leave." The manager said as the guards then approached him.

"Wait, I'm here to meet a friend," he explained

"Get him out before the guest starts leaving…"

As the two hotel guard, grab hold of Victor in both arms. He did not struggle and just followed them out of the hotel when suddenly a loud voice echoed causing a big shocker to everyone.

"Young Master." An old man said as he runs to the entrance.

The manager and the guards paused as they realized they just offended someone they shouldn't have.

"Manager Cao, is that the way you should be treating the son of the hotel," Nicholas said as he slowly passed everyone causing them to worry.

"Young Master…" the old man said as he wraps a coat around Victor.

"President Grey, I didn't know he was your son." The manager pleads as sweat rolled down his face.

"He's not my son, but the son of late Chairman Lu." He explained

The manager's knees collapse as he realizes that he did not offend the son of the President, but the son of late Chairman Lu. The owner of the biggest real estate empire in the world. He quickly got up on his knees and run towards Victor.

"Young Master please forgive me for not noticing you." The manager said which soon caught everyone's attention. It was not only him who felt frightened, but also the other staff and guests of the hotel. They did not expect the young boy they were insulting was the owner of the hotel.

"It's fine," Victor said as he followed Nicholas and his men back upstairs.

When they arrived at the Presidential Suite, Victor eyes could not believe what he was seeing.

"So this is how the elites live." He said, forgetting the people around him.

"And you're one of them," Nicholas said

"About Chairman Lu, I mean my father how did…" Victor was a little hesitant in asking for he felt it wasn't the proper time.

"He has finally established the business and was about to return to Country K, when his plane accidentally crashed. He was so excited to see and your mother, that in the end, everything he worked hard for ended in the blink of an eye." Nicholas explained with such regrets and upset expression.

"I'm sorry…" he said

"It's fine, I'm sure he's happy now with your mother in paradise." He smiled

"So, what now?" Victor asked

"You are the heir to LRE Co. But the main branch is in Country M, which means you need to return with me and established your status there first." He explained

"But…" Victor did not know what to say, he expected to get his revenge, but he needs to leave the country which means he won't be able to complete the contract he made with the watcher.

"Our company is expanding in Country K as your father wish to get Chen Group back. Since he's no longer here, it's up to you to get it back since you are the heir to Chen Group as well." He explained

"So when can I return?" He asked

"When the right time comes." Nicholas said as he patted him on the shoulder, "I'm sorry for your lost, she endured everything for you. So one day you all can be together."

"Thank you." Victor cried

Later that evening, Victor stayed in the penthouse with Nicholas. At the same time, a lot of lawyers visited them as they explained everything about his father's will and his inheritance of the company.

It surprises him to find out that Nicholas has no interest in the company shares at all, he only has a small percentage of it. At the same time, he is the acting President right now since I am not ready to take the role. But the biggest surprise that Victor received was the fact his name was also changed that night. Starting then, he was no longer Victor and will live a new life with a new identity.
