Chapter 4

We drove to the ceremony; the place was near my old school. As I was passing by that place I felt nostalgic. As if, the times which I spent here just freeze, I wanted to visit it once before I leave everything. I wanted to lose in those days of my life. Maybe if life was not short I would have live the moment twice. With all those thoughts in my head, I didn’t even realize that we reach. It was Tom who brings me back to my present state. As I remember nicely, there is a park nearby where my friends and I use to fool around after school when we had half days.

“Sam?”  I looked at him. “We should go inside now.” “Yes, let’s go.” I am so confused about everything but, Tom’s eyes always bring ease in my heart. But only I can see that those carefree eyes are also filled with fear. The fears of letting me go. I hold his hand. He looked at me; he knows why I did that but, didn’t say anything just smiled. “Are, you Mrs. Catcher?” the guide asked. “Yes, I am.” “Please welcome. Oh! Is this your husband?” She asked. “Yes, I am.” He replied. “Please follow me, I will show you around.” “ I won’t be joining you two. I have some work to do. So, please take care of her on behalf of me.” Tom said. “Where are you going?” I asked. “I want to, visit a place before we go. So, sorry I won’t be joining you. Is that okay?” “Yes. You can go but, take care and tell me if you come back.” “Okay, I will. Bye-bye.” I waved at him while he was leaving.

I felt very nervous when I entered the hall. I saw many people from the age group of teens as well. There were some parents also there, with their kids. Looking at them sent me to another world. I saw myself and Tom playing with our kids. We are happy and I am alive. A shook woke me up from my imagination. I sat down as the program started.  The host of the ceremony welcomed all of us. It’s been some time since I last attended a seminar at university. The first half was quite boring but then some of the people started to tell their stories, it took my interest. A lady came to the stage; She was nor too old nor to young, you can say she was in her 50’s now. She started, “Good afternoon. I am Lily Jones and that’s my husband Matthew Jones.” She pointed. “I want to share my story, as I am a blood cancer patient for two years now. And the doctor says I can’t live for long now. I have a son and a daughter. And my daughter has two girls. My son got married last year. I don’t regret now, that I will die soon someday, I take it as a pleasure of the time, that God has given me too spent it with my husband my kids. I have left my life happily and I also want all of you to do the same at the last days of some of our lives, please enjoy it now with a bit control of yours.” “And, I also had a miscarriage two times and I thought that I won’t be able to have kids anymore but, I never lost my hopes and finally I had to kids and they are my blessings.” She looked emotional while speaking. Maybe she also got lost in her memories. “Lastly, I want to say that never lose faith in yourself, because what you can do, is no one else can.” She ended her story. What I wanted at that moment was…Tom. I got a text from him that he arrived here. I stand up and left that place as I left I start to run. I know what I want now, it was, Tom. I want Tom. I want him to hold me forever. I want to live with him until the last day of my life. I saw him. “Tom!” “Hey!” I jumped from the stairs and hugged him; I want to continue living in his arms. “Woo!” He was startled. “Hey? What happened?” “Nothing, I am happy to see you again. I was missing you.” “I just went away for an hour right? But I am happy that you missed me so much.” “Hey, did the seminar ended?” He asked. “No, but it doesn’t matter anymore let’s go somewhere.” “Okay, how about the park nearby?” He asked. “I know, you were looking at there and your old school but they don’t allow us to enter the building. So, we can only go to the park now.” He replied. “It’s fine. I am happy that you tried.” We didn’t waste time and went to the park. The swings are new now and so as the slides. I sat in the swing and swigged for a while and then Tom joined me. “Tom? Is there something I can do for you?” I asked. “Why did you ask that suddenly?” “I want you to be happy,” I told him with determination in my voice. “There is, I want you to live. So, that’s why no matter what, the situation is, and no matter, if you can be cured or not. I want you to try.” He replied. “I will!” I smiled.  I don’t know what my future is but, all I know is that if these are the last days of my life, I want to live every moment twice. “Tom?” “Hmm?” “I love you,” I said. “Hey, you are too straightforward when you say stuff like this. But, even so, I love you too.”
