Episode 5-It's Raining

The news said there is a tropical storm coming but classes are not yet cancelled, it's raining so hard today. My mom told me not to go to school anymore. I'm already prepared to go but I will surely be wet if I insist ongoing. We don't have a car my parents can't send me. So I have no choice but to stay. The storm passes but our area wasn't hit, unlike other provinces. I've been absent for a total of 5 days plus the weekends. I missed my classmates so much. I'm so bored at home, I managed to watch a lot of movies. I watched Little Women, I'm still wondering why didn't Joe marry her best friend Laurie. If I were Joe I will marry him no matter what. So talking about ending up with someone, me, myself has no happy ending yet, but I'm still too for an ending. I don't wanna rush it but being single is definitely boring sometimes, my phone is dead, no action is happening on my phone. I better get a hobby to cure this boredom. Other than watching T.V. Reading my notes is not an option. There is no normal teenager who reads as a hobby. So I kept on watching T.V. to finish the day. I love Nicholas Sparks movies even the one with Miley Cyrus. My eyes are already itchy for watching movies, I'm not even learning from it but at least I am entertained. I'm learning English that's enough. I watch alot, I think I can understand the characters talking but it won't make me confident enough to recite at class. Hope I can be that girl that participate in class and be smart but it's not just me. I am settled with my mediocre performance. I am already satisfied on this way of running my life.

On Monday, I finally went to school and met my classmates again. Oh, how I miss them so. We shared the things we did at home during the school break for almost a week. They did something interesting like writing. Theressa told me she's into manga stories and she's writing her own manga online currently. Isn't that interesting. If only I can do the same. I should read her writings. I might find something from her outputs. Or maybe I will like her stories. Reading manga can be fun. She told me the app where I can find her stories and their titles.

Monday is almost over. I'm just copying from Ana the things we need for a project and the things we need to start our research project when Carlos approach me he said something about Tommy.

Carlos: Tommy seems to be looking for you.

Lourdes: For what reason do you think will he be looking for me?

Carlos: Here, talk to him on the phone.

Lourdes: Yeah? You need my help, but why would I go to you? You should come to me instead, I'm busy as well.

Tommy on the phone: Please come over I need to show you something, we have plenty of resources here at the library, this is the best place for research. Please come over, bring Ana with you.

Lourdes: Ana doesn't wanna go. Can we do it tomorrow library is too far from my current location? Please, Tommy, don't make me walk too far.

Tommy: It's gonna be fast. Hurry up so you can go back to what you're doing right away.

Lourdes: Ok.

I cancelled the call and tell Ana to come with me to the library, but she's too lazy to walk.

Lourdes: Please Ana, let's pass at the library then we go home.

Ana: The way home is closer here, the gate is 1 room away, what about I wait for you here until you come back I won't leave. Please I'm so tired.

Lourdes: Tired your ***, you're just lazy.

Carlos: I will come with you, Lourdes. I wanna see what Tommy is so confused about that he needs someone like you for help.

Lourdes: Alright. I think it's just something silly.

Carlos: We will know when we get there.

There is something fishy with Tommy asking help from me. Who am I to help him. He is better than me on academics and way bigger than me to ask for help on reaching or lifting objects. What could possibly this thing be. Is he planning to trick me on something? It is not gonna work. I will just come to show him my poker face. And Carlos coming, maybe he is with Tommy. What are they up to. We will see. I'm gonna kick their asses if this is some bullshits they are cooking.

Lourdes: Looks like Tommy is not alone, I heard a little giggle sounding like Tristan on the phone.

Carlos: Did you come up with a research problem you want to focus on already?

Lourdes: None yet, Ana is into garbage control of our school or community because it would be easy plus nobody has it yet. And we don't have the garbage collecting system. Our province is kind of primitive, we burn our garbage, so maybe we will look for some people who have plans for our garbage system or we will make a plan for ourselves.

Carlos: Garbage is cool.

Lourdes: I think it is cool too. Maybe we will go on that problem. Plus it is so relevant you know, not to mention it can really help our community too even just for the school campus it is applicable too.

Carlos: Me and David will be tackling some self-supporting kids, students who work and study at the same time. We will be showing how much time they spend on work, study and sleep. Then the effects of it to their health and grades and social life. Things like that.

Lourdes: That's so cool. Have fun with that.

Carlos: I will surely do. I like this thing doing research. I think it's fun. It help us exercise our brain. To think of some problem then come up with the solution. We can use this in the future, you know.

Lourdes: Yes you are right. Funny how you say, you are liking Research because you know most of our classmates are cursing this subject, even me I think. Later on we will definitely have troubles accumulating data and making this topic hit the point you know. Because sometimes it's easy to think of the problem and solve it generally but on step by step process. It is gonna be hard plus we have to write it on paper. There is so much work to be done. and yet you enjoy this things. What is on your mind.

Carlos: I just love challenging things i think.

Lourdes: I see. Only you like this kind of things. How I wish I have your mind. It's gonna be so useful to me. I think I'm going to be rich with that kind of brain.

Carlos: You're so funny when you talk this way.

Lourdes: Am I? How?

Carlos: This way. I didn't see that before from you.

Lourdes: Yeah because we just started talking to each other just lately. You don't know me before. Or I'm invisible I think.

Carlos: I just didn't notice you or I don't find the need to talk to you, but now It's kind of fun. You are entertaining. You have a different personality among our classmates.

Lourdes: Really.

Our conversation goes on like this until we arrive at the library. The library is silent and some isle is already dark. It's kind of creepy, we tried looking for Tommy on every isle. The librarian is not around, maybe she passed by the office to talk to the principal, she'll come back for sure since she needs to switch off all the lights and lock the door. Suddenly we heard a weird noise.

Lourdes: Tommy, where are you?

Carlos: Hello, we are here. Come out.

Lourdes: Tommy show yourself or we are leaving.

Some are wind blows, the window is open. I approached the window to close it then the entrance door closed, that's the only exit as well. Tommy is playing with us.

Lourdes: Tommy, open the door, this isn't funny.

I banged the door so hard I'm irritated with Tommy's trick. I look at Carlos direction he is shocked with what is happening too.

Lourdes: Are you OK Carlos.

Carlos: This is bullshit, so this is what they are planning.

Lourdes: Ana could have been here with me or I could have been alone.

Carlos: I'm kind of scared, let's look for an exit and go home.

Lourdes: Let me look for the light switch so we can see better.

Carlos: Lourdes don't leave me.

Lourdes: Come on don't pretend, as if you are not aware this is gonna happen.

I started this line to see if Carlos has knowledge about what is happening.

Carlos: Believe me, I have no idea about their plan.

Lourdes: oh please!

I'm so irritated I walk towards the switch without Carlos. I turn on the lights but the switch I found is only to light up the librarian's area. I need to go to the Librarian's corner to check for more switch. Carlos is just following me, staying close to my back. I heard some sound behind the storage room, I wanna check it to see if Tommy is hiding there. I looked at Carlos for confirmation.

Lourdes: That's probably Tommy, let's bust him so this will be over.

Carlos: No Lourdes, let's go to the Librarian's corner and call the guard to tell him we are locked here so he could help us get out.

Lourdes: I'm sure it's Tommy.

Carlos: Please Lourdes I'm not liking this.

Lourdes: You go to the phone then I will check where is Tommy.

Carlos: I can't do that, I'm coming with you then.

Lourdes: Then let's go bust, Tommy.

We walk slowly towards the storage room, some sound is continuously attracting us.

Lourdes: Tommy! I'm gonna get you.

Carlos hold my hand. I wagged it down but he looks seriously scared so I let him. We walked closer to the storage but then someone runs behind us. There is another person aside from Tommy inside the library. Carlos hold me even tighter. I opened the storage and somebody in monster costume jump on us and another one from our back. We screamed out of surprise. Carlos is motionless, looks like his soul left his body. He hugged me and buried his head on my back while he screamed non stop.

I know its Tommy and somebody else we know on costume trying to scare me so I approached them and kick them so hard. After a while, it was revealed that indeed it was Tommy and Tristan. They connived with Trisha and the Librarian as well outside for this trick.

Lourdes: This ain't funny.

They were laughing so much while I chase them with their punishment. Carlos is so pale, looks like he indeed has no idea about this prank.

Lourdes: Are you ok Carlos? I'm not really scared with you around.

I asked him that question but he just nodded a little and gave me a wry smile he is still speechless. We went outside, just to see Trisha waiting for Tommy's signal. Closing the door was Trisha's doing. Tristan and Tommy bragged about their success and made fun of our reaction, they thanked the Librarian, bid goodbye and leave. As we approach where Ana is, The pranksters narrated to whomever willing to listen their captured moment of us. They got it on tape and they are planning to show it to everybody tomorrow. I looked at Carlos sincerely and apologized for not believing him initially. He looks more shaken than me. I can't believe he could be this vulnerable.
