Ep. 3
(At the Law Firm)
(Knocking on the door)
"Mr. Colben has arrived Sir" Mr. Blair's paralegal informed Mr. Blair, who was busy with paperwork.
"Take him in and bring us coffee please" he said.
Getting up from his seat, Mr. Blair walked away from his desk towards the man and shook hands with him. Pointing at a seat, he welcomed him.
"Welcome Frank, please have a seat." They both sat down, facing each other.
"So, did you find any information?" Mr. Blair asked, trying to hide his restlessness.
"Well, her father Steven Cruz is a high school teacher and her mother Anna Cruz is a music teacher. I didn't see Ms. Cruz for the few days I was observing her home. Can I ask, why you are investigating this girl Carter? Don't misunderstand, I'm not trying to pry in your business or anything. We are talking about a young girl after all" Mr. Colben wanted to know.
"Oh, It's just" he began, not really knowing how to answer that question, when just at the right time he got interrupted by the knock on the door. It was the paralegal, bringing them coffee. Mr. Blair sighed, loosening his tie a little.
After waiting for the door to be closed, Mr. Colben took a sip of his coffee and threw in "don't tell me you are investigating your future daughter-in-law" while giving Mr. Blair a smile.
Surprised at the statement Mr. Colben made, Mr. Blair fell in deep thought, thinking in his mind "he thinks I'm investigating my future daughter-in-law? I worried for nothing. Why didn't I think of this? Well, I will go with this".
"Carter?" Mr. Colben said, getting him back to the conversation.
"Well, yeah" he answered without thinking further. After all he couldn't let anyone else know about the secret and not knowing what else to say, he went on and affirmed Mr. Colben.
"Really? I was just joking but turns out to be the case. That's good news, congratulations. By the way, when I was following Mr. Cruz, he once went to the police station, though I don't know why. Do you want me to pull some strings and ask around?" Mr. Colben said.
Mr. Blair not wanting to go into deep conversation said "Thank you Frank. We want to keep it to ourselves for now, as it's news to us too. I'd better ask Abel about the matter with the police. I don't want them to think bad of us. I'm afraid they will misunderstand."
As Mr. Blair thanked him for his help, Mr. Colben excused himself to leave.
Getting back to his desk, Mr. Blair leaned back on his chair, thinking about what he had just said. He could use that to handle the situation, in case things go wrong. What about Abel? Would he be able to cope with it and go along? "I shouldn't think about it. We don't even know, if she will wake up. Well, let's wait and see" he thought.
