Chapter Four

VALERIA ANNASTA XIMENEZ POV

"Thanks.." I muttered out giving him a look, that implied I wanted to know his name.

"Xavier." He smiled.

His teeth were perfectly aligned and I never met someone who managed to look good under street lights. The lighting fucks up my face most of the time.

"Well thanks Xavier." I gave his helmet back and ran my fingers through my hair, hoping it would take my helmet hair.

He just stared at me. A smile played on his lips and I found myself tucking my hands into the pockets of my hoodie and rocking from my heels to toes.

He grabbed his helmet and turned of his motorcycle. He gave me a smile as he licked his lips.

God, stop it now.

I found myself watching him as he got up and put the helmet in the storage space under the seats. The way he pulled on his leather jacket to fix it and the way his biceps flexed, I watched it all. From how his long lashes fell and rose with each blink and how his jaw clenched every time he chewed on his gum.

He leaned against his bike and I watched his Adam's apple bob. He crossed his arms and looked at the end of the street and back at me, "Nice neighborhood you got here Valeria." He said.

I pulled over my hood, it was probably one in the morning by now and it was getting chillier. "You know my name?"

He smirked, "I did read your name tag at the diner."

I arched a brow, this time a smirk played on my lips, "I wasn't even your server."

He got up, shrugging his shoulders to loosen them. He took two steps which were probably two large strides for me, but he was tall with long legs. He towered over me, looking down at me, I could practically feel his chest vibrate as he chuckle and his warm breath tickling the tip of my nose. "You happened to catch my eye."

I rolled my eyes, “Now you’re just tugging on my heart strings.”

We let out small laughs. Our breaths were visible in the cold weather, yet I now felt warm.

Laughter made one warm and I could now agree with it.

He bent down. I took a small step back in surprise. “Relax señorita.” He smiled.

He took a step closer and once again bent down, but this time I didn’t back away. I watched as he brought his hand up to my face.

I couldn’t help but stare at his facial features as he tucked a strand of hair behind my ear. “Thank you.” I mumbled out. He looked at me, “Thank you for taking me home.” I said clearer this time.

“A promise is a promise señorita.” His hand cupped my cheek.

There it was again. That word. He used it earlier and it sent tingles down my spine. The way he rolled his R's and how he switched from an american accent to a hispanic one made me numb.

And the feeling was exhilarating.
