Holding the glass of water in her hand, Amara stood there waiting silently, fiddling with the ring on her left hand. She looked at the man standing in front of the vanity, looking at the photo that was placed on the night stand besides it. He looked at the photo with the soft gaze, eyebrows at ease, and a small but gentle smile. His expression seen in the mirror. An expression that he has never worn even after they got married.
"I may have married you, but only because of our grandfather's will", Caleb said as his normal stoic face came back.
He turned towards Amara with the photo still in hand and a scowl on his face, "You will never be like her. You will never be better than her. And you will never replace her. So I suggest you to act like we never even married"
Caleb placed the photo back on the night stand beside the vanity. He strutted out of their bedroom, leaving Amara silent. She looked at where he placed the photo. A place where Amara can see it everyday when sitting in front of the mirror. Reminding herself that she is the second wife.
