Chapter 1: The Last Day of Her Old Life
The morning sun shone brightly over the university campus.
It was graduation day.
Among hundreds of students celebrating their achievements stood a young woman named Lin Yutong. Dressed in her graduation gown, she held her certificate tightly, a small smile appearing on her face.
After years of struggles, she had finally made it.
She had no father to congratulate her, no one to share her childhood achievements with. Her mother and younger brother were the only family she had.
Taking out her phone, she called her mother.
"Mom, I've graduated!"
Her mother's cheerful voice came through the phone.
"Congratulations, sweetheart! Your brother and I are waiting for you at home. Come quickly!"
Lin Yutong smiled.
"I'll be there soon. Love you, Mom."
But she had no idea that those would be the last words she would ever say to her mother.
A few hours later, her phone rang.
"Hello?"
"Are you Lin Yutong? Your mother and brother have been involved in a serious accident. Please come to the hospital immediately."
Her certificate slipped from her hand.
"What...?"
Without another word, she rushed towards the hospital.
And that day, her world fell apart.
