Chapter 1: The entities in the living room
Oh, you're here? You're actually gonna hear me out?! I thought finding someone to listen was a lost cause... thank you for staying.
It all started when Mom told me to get her a glass of water during the night. I was maybe eight, maybe older—it's been hard to recall. The night was silent except for the occasional chirping of crickets. I could never find those guys in the morning; it's like they vanished the second daylight hit. Strange, actually... oh, right, sorry. Getting sidetracked. Back to the memory.
Our house wasn't small, but it wasn't huge either—bigger than most American apartments, I'll tell you that. Anyway, as I was returning from the kitchen with the water, I saw it.
Sitting in my living room.
It was dark with bright, glowing white eyes, lying right there on my couch... which somehow looked way bigger than usual. It was watching the TV, but the problem was that the TV was turned off, and yet glowing like it was on. And for a split second, I saw more of them. An entire group just chilling in my living room. How?!
Then it looked at me, as if sensing I'd noticed it.
All I felt was pure dread. Not the usual kind you get when you break your parents prized vase or phone , but the kind of fear that wraps around you like a straightjacket—unwanted, impossible to escape. Raw terror. So I fled straight to my mom's room.
What was I supposed to do? Fight supernatural entities like I'm some kind of Ghostbuster? I wasn't even ten, for crying out loud! You expect me to stand there like one of those horror movie characters with zero survival instincts? I actually understand the concept of running for my life, because fighting them would've been suicide... especially when just their gaze was enough to paralyze me.
Whenever I tell people this, they always brush it off. "It didn't happen." "You must've been dreaming." One guy even told me, "God opened your eyes," only to turn around two minutes later and say it was probably just a dream. He couldn't even stick to one explanation!
...Sorry. Didn't mean to turn this into a rant, just needed to get that off my chest.
You're still here? Why—curiosity? Are you just here to listen to the crazy girl ramble?! ...No, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have said that. I'm grateful you didn't leave like the rest, that you at least stayed to hear me out.
Shall we see each other in the next chapter? See you soon, reader... may your curiosity serve you well.
