Some people come into your life without making a sound.
No grand entrance.
No warning.
No promise that they’re going to stay.
They just… appear.
And somehow, years later, you realize they’ve been there through more versions of you than anyone else.
I never thought much of it at first.
He was just someone I knew.
Someone I saw occasionally. Someone I could talk to. Someone I learned little things about without even trying.
And then, somewhere between the ordinary conversations and the moments I pretended didn’t matter, something changed.
I started noticing him.
Not just seeing him.
Noticing.
The way he smiled.
The way he talked.
The little things he did that probably meant nothing to him but somehow stayed with me.
It was stupid, really.
Because I never planned on falling for him.
Especially not for this long.
If someone had told me years ago that I would eventually sit at my desk at midnight, writing about the same person over and over again, I probably would have laughed.
But here I am.
Still writing.
Still wondering.
Still asking myself the same question I’ve been too afraid to answer.
What if?
Maybe that's the problem with almosts.
They don't end.
They just leave you wondering what could have happened if you had been a little braver.
And maybe this isn't a love story.
Maybe it's just the story of a girl who spent too many years keeping something in her heart
until she finally decided to write it down.
