CHAPTER 01: In the Heart of Bangkok
Khaosan Road was loud, colorful, and overflowing with life. Amidst the sea of tourists, Ethan stood holding his camera. He was a photographer searching for inspiration in Thailand, but in truth, he was traveling to run away from his own heartache.
As he adjusted his camera lens, someone suddenly bumped into him. The impact caused his expensive camera lens to detach and roll across the pavement.
"Oh no, I'm so sorry! Patawad po!" a female voice apologized in Filipino.
The girl quickly picked up the lens and handed it to him. As Ethan looked up, he froze. Her brow was furrowed, but her eyes held genuine panic.
"I'm Aria," she introduced herself when she saw Ethan staring. "Your lens is safe, no scratches. I'm really sorry, I'm just in a huge rush."
Before Ethan could say anything, a small white notebook slipped out of Aria’s bag. The girl hurried away to answer someone calling from a distance, completely unaware she had left her journal behind.
Ethan picked it up. On the first page, written in neat handwriting, was: “Dreams in Thailand — Aria.”
CHAPTER 02: The Secret Journey
Ethan surprised Aria the next morning outside her guesthouse in Bangkok. He held out her notebook.
"You left this behind last night," Ethan said, his voice cool yet carrying a hint of a smile.
Out of sheer gratitude, Aria offered to tour Ethan around the Chao Phraya River and the famous Wat Arun. As they rode the boat together, their stories slowly unraveled. Ethan learned that Aria was there to work and save money for her family back in the Philippines, while Ethan was searching for a fresh start after a series of heartbreaks.
"Why photography?" Aria asked, looking out at the river.

Ethan raised his camera and pointed it at Aria. Through the screen, as the girl smiled against the wind and sunlight, Ethan realized he didn't want that afternoon to ever end.
CHAPTER 03: The Promised Tomorrow
Ethan and Aria traveled together to Chiang Mai for the Yi Peng Lantern Festival. Amidst the darkness of the night, thousands of golden lanterns flew simultaneously into the sky.
They held a single lantern together.
"What did you wish for?" Aria asked, looking up.
Ethan gazed down at Aria's face. "I wished that... when we return to the Philippines, neither of us will be alone anymore. I wished for an 'us'."
Aria stared back at him. Her eyes mirrored a profound emotion. Underneath the glowing sky, they instinctively leaned in until their lips met—a sweet and quiet promise of love.
CHAPTER 04: The Sudden Turn
The next morning in their Bangkok hotel room, Ethan woke up to the sound of Aria crying while speaking on the phone.
"I can't do this, Ma... Why does it have to be me?" Aria pleaded softly, her voice trembling. "...If that's the only way to pay off Dad's debt and keep him out of prison, then fine. I'll agree to it. I'll marry him."
Ethan stood frozen outside the door, feeling as though the sky and earth had collapsed on him.
When Aria stepped out of the room, she saw Ethan standing there. Having no words to explain, Aria choked out, "I need to go back to the Philippines, Ethan. My vacation here is over... and whatever we had, it's over too."
CHAPTER 05: The Sacrifice
Outside the Suvarnabhumi Airport, Ethan ran after Aria through the heavy pouring rain.
"Aria, I heard everything!" Ethan shouted, gripping the girl's shoulders. "Don't do this! I'll find a way. I'll help you!"
Weeping, Aria shook her head and pushed Ethan away. "You can't save me, Ethan! My family's debt is in the millions! I won't drag you down and ruin your life!"
"But I love you, Aria!"
"If you love me, let me go!" Aria screamed, tears streaming down her face. "I have to save my family. Please, forget about me."
Aria pulled her hands away from Ethan and rushed into the terminal. Ethan was left kneeling on the wet pavement, watching the woman he loved with all his heart disappear from sight.

Five years passed.
Ethan became a renowned international travel photographer. He had traveled to different corners of the globe, been featured in magazines, and won countless awards. Yet despite his success, his heart remained blank and cold. He had heard nothing of Aria since that fateful day.
One day, he received a major invitation from the Bangkok Art Center—a solo photo exhibition showcasing his masterpieces in Thailand.
Ethan prepared his most cherished photograph for the centerfold of the exhibit: the candid photo of Aria by the Chao Phraya River from five years ago.
CHAPTER 07: Returning to Thailand
Ethan stood once again in Bangkok. The Art Center was packed with people for the opening of his exhibition. As visitors admired his works, Ethan stood quietly in front of the large portrait of Aria.
"This is a breathtaking photo," a voice murmured behind him.
Ethan slowly turned around. The world stopped spinning.

At that exact moment, Ethan felt a crushing weight in his chest. Aria introduced her husband and daughter to him. Aria's husband shook Ethan's hand and praised his work, while Aria stared at him silently, holding back tears and deep regret.
Ethan looked at the family Aria had built—happy, complete, and worlds away from the chaos of the past.
CHAPTER 09: The Last Conversation
Before the night ended, they managed to steal a few quiet moments to talk in the Art Center's garden while Aria's husband and daughter stepped away to get some food.
"Are you happy?" Ethan asked, gazing into the distance.
Aria smiled faintly. "He has been a good husband to me, Ethan. And he loved me truly. We raised our daughter well."
Ethan looked at her. "I was angry at you back then... but seeing you happy now, I finally understand. Thank you for showing me how to love completely in this lifetime, Aria."
A tear slipped down Aria's cheek. "Thank you, Ethan. And I'm sorry for breaking my promise. I hope you find your happiness, too."
They shared one final embrace—an embrace of total release and acceptance.
CHAPTER 10: The Last Flight
Ethan stood at the departure gate of Suvarnabhumi Airport. He held the old, white notebook that Aria had left behind five years ago.
He boarded the airplane and took a seat by the window. As the plane slowly lifted into the skies of Thailand, Ethan opened the final page of the notebook. He pulled out his pen and wrote his closing words:
