*I gasped. The entire room was filled with portraits of me. Some of them were recent, showing me walking in the rain or sitting at my desk... But others looked incredibly old....
In those ancient paintings, the woman had my exact face, but she was dressed in elegant, heavy gowns from the sixteenth century.
Every detail of her eyes, her smile, and her hair matched mine perfectly. At the bottom of those old paintings, a name was written in elegant cursive:
~~๐ฆ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ป๐ฎ ๐'๐๐๐๐ฟ~~
The moment my eyes locked onto that name, a painful spark flashed in my brain. A faint, distant memory began to surface in my mindโa memory that didn't belong to this lifetime...*
"W... what is this?"
*My head started spinning. Visions from the past rushed in front of my eyes, and tears began streaming down my face.It was me...I was the Duke's daughter, Serena D'Azur, married to the Crown Prince, Xavier Rayat Laurent. Every memory flashed into my mindโevery beautiful moment, and every cruel thing he had done to me....He wasn't abusive; he was entirely consumed by his obsession for me.
It was an obsession so dark that he murdered his own parents and mine, just so no one could ever take me away from him. Eventually, his madness drove me to commit suicide, burning myself alive in a fire. But even after all of that, I couldn't deny that I loved him.
It wasn't because I was weak...It was because that twisted obsession had actually started with me.
I had killed my own sister just to have him first....
As the visions finally stopped, I fell to my knees...Before I could think any further, the heavy door slammed shut behind me.
"You weren't supposed to be here, Little Jerry... not yet," his voice echoed.I looked up at him, my vision blurry. "So you knew... you knew all along."
He shrugged, a dark smirk spreading across his lips. "Yeah. From the very first night I saw you in the park, Little Jerry. It was you all along. My Serena. My beautiful Serena~"
Suddenly, everything clicked in my mind. That was why he didn't kill me in the park. That was why I was accepted so easily as his assistant. That was why my bedroom was right next to his, and why he stared at me for so long.
I forced myself up, wiping away my tears....I pulled out the gun hidden behind my back, the weapon I always kept tucked away for safety...
"I will end this all at once today, Xavier... or Killian. Whichever you are. Itโs time to end it all...I won't let you ruin me again!"
He laughed, a low, mesmerizing sound.
"But you love to get ruined by me, darling. Over and over again. In our past life, and even today. You were mine then. And once again, you are mine now."
I just smiled, because I couldn't deny the terrifying truth. I still loved this hot killer.
"Yes, you're right," I whispered. "Maybe I crave you. My heart craves to be yours... and in every lifetime, I just want to be ~๐ฌ๐ผ๐๐ฟ๐ ๐ข๐ป๐ฐ๐ฒ ๐๐ด๐ฎ๐ถ๐ป~..."
Saying that, the gun was pointed forward...
A loud, deafening bang shattered the silence..... *

* Author Note *
"Dear readers and judges,This is the end of the story! I know the ending might be a bit confusing. I chose to leave the true conclusion entirely up to your imagination. It is not a happy ending, but it is not a bad ending either. It is an ending that makes you think. Did she shoot him? Did she shoot herself? What really happened? Nobody knows. I wanted to create an incomplete ending that somehow still feels complete.I truly hope you enjoyed reading this as much as I enjoyed writing it. Because this was a short story, the pacing was fast, and I could not include every single detail. However, I plan to write a full, detailed chat story about these two characters very soon!Bye-bye!"
