Nine years later…
A fair average beautiful brown eyes girl with a black long hair that fell down to her lower back walked around the library in the place she had always known as home, in search of books to help while away time. She had grown to love the Laine family as her own and as such, saw Arthur as her younger brother.
She kept scrolling through books until she came across a very book that caught her attention. It was a big black book that was kept separately from the others and was completely covered in dust. She picked up the book and blew off the dust from the place the name of the book was written to read it.
It read: two hundred decades ago.
Emily paused after reading the title of the books a certain memory came to her. The first day she met Rena, her guardian and was told about a repeat of history that happened 200 hundred decades ago.
“Two hundred…”
She whispered to herself and felt the book before carrying it with her out of the library and ran to her brother’s room to show him.
“Arthur, Arthur, look what I found.”
Arthur who was busy with designing an art project didn’t bother to turn because he knew it was another book.
“Don’t disturb.”
“Please, just turn your head here for a few seconds.”
“What book is that?” “Turn.”
Emily insisted and Arthur gave up immediately
“Arrgh. Fine.”
He said and reluctantly turned to his sister to see the book she held
“What book is that?”
“History…I think. Look, here it says two hundred decades ago, the same thing I told you that strange lady had said.”
“It’s history.”
“Yes, and I have to read it to know what will happen in the future.”
“That’s the past, Emily, not the future.”
“The lady said…”
“When last did you see this mystery lady?”
Arthur interrupted and Emily paused before answering sadly
“When I was five.”
“That was nine years ago when your parents died. Remember that was the first day you woke up from your mystery sleep. That lady is nothing but an imagination. It must have been the dizziness after a long sleep that made you see that, but I’m telling you, it was an illusion.”
“I wasn’t dizzy.”
“Emily…”
“Yeah, you’re right but I’ll still read it.”
“They say…”
“Curiosity kills the cat, I know, but I’m still curious. Have fun drawing.”
“And have fun reading.”
Arthur said as he faced his work while Emily giggled and walked to her room.
She went to her room and locked it to avoid disturbance from anybody. She sat down, inhaled deeply and opened the book but to her surprise and disappointment, all she could see were blank pages.
