A little kitten slowly opened her eyes.
Everything around her was blurry.
She tried to move, but her tiny body felt heavy. Then she noticed someone walking toward her.
A man stopped a few steps away and crouched down.
“Do you want to come with me?”
The kitten only stared at him.
She didn't understand.
Her hearing had never been very good. In fact, everything sounded distant and muffled.
Then suddenly—
A sharp memory struck her.
Something had hit her.
Pain.
Fear.
And then… someone had saved her.
The pain that had been haunting her was gone now.
She looked at the man again.
He smiled gently.
“Wait here, okay? Don't go anywhere. I'll bring someone who'll be very happy to see you. Then you can decide.”
The kitten didn't understand all his words, but she understood his gestures.
So she sat quietly where she was.
After a while, the man returned.
This time, a little boy was walking beside him.
The man smiled.
“Hey, kitty… look who's here.”
The kitten stared at the boy.
Something inside her stirred.
*I remember him…*
But the memory was hazy.
*Somewhere.*
*I know I've seen him before.*
She couldn't remember where.
The man gently picked the little kitten up.
“Hey, kitty!”
The boy's face lit up.
The man looked at him.
“Ask her if she wants to come with us.”
The boy blinked.
Then he looked at the kitten.
“I didn't know you couldn't hear well. I thought you were just being stubborn, while your brothers were playful.....”
The kitten froze. "is that Noah?"
She had heard that.
Every word.
Her ears perked up.
*I can hear him.*
She looked around in confusion.
*How?*
Then she looked up at the man.
His eyes were glowing faintly.
The kitten tilted her head.
*Is he… a magician?*
The man smiled as if he knew exactly what she was thinking.
The kitten slowly nodded.
The man placed her gently into the boy's arms.
“Let's go.” He turned and began walking ahead.
The boy hugged the kitten close and happily followed.
And the little kitten followed too, her tiny heart strangely warm.
She didn't know where they were going.
She didn't remember everything.
But somehow…
She felt safe.
Far away, in a quiet house, a completely different scene unfolded.
and outside...
A mother cat walked slowly through the yard, carrying a tiny, lifeless kitten in her mouth.
Behind her, the cries of parents of a kid filled the air.
The mother dug a small pit with trembling paws.
She gently laid her dead kitten inside.
Then she covered the little body with earth.
She stayed there for a long time.
Not knowing that somewhere far away…
Her little kitten was walking toward a new home.
A new family.
And perhaps…
a second chance at life with her favourite human.....
