The First Lecture or the First Disaster?
It took the five girls almost fifteen minutes just to leave Room 107.
As they walked through the hostel corridor, the other students couldn't help but smile after seeing them.
Kaneez proudly lifted her chin.
"See? Everyone looks at us whenever we make an entrance."
Naheed rolled her eyes.
"They're not looking at us... they're watching the daily drama."
The girls burst into laughter.
Wafa glanced at her watch, and her face immediately changed.
"Oh no! It's almost eight! Hurry up!"
The five of them ran toward the college as fast as they could.
On the way, Fatima was walking while reading her textbook.
Kaneez looked at her in disbelief.
"You can actually read while walking?"
Without taking her eyes off the book, Fatima replied,
"Of course. Time is precious."
Kaneez leaned closer to Sidra and whispered,
"I swear, even if she dreams, she'll probably be taking an exam in it."
Sidra couldn't stop laughing.
Just then...
BANG!
Fatima walked straight into a lamp post.
Her book slipped from her hands.
For a few seconds, complete silence filled the air.
Then Kaneez started clapping.
"Wow! You were so focused on your book that you thought the lamp post was your professor!"
This time, even Fatima couldn't stop herself from laughing.
---
As soon as they reached the college gate, the bell rang.
Ring... Ring... Ring...
Wafa panicked.
"Run! The first lecture has already started!"
The girls rushed toward their classroom.
The moment they opened the door...
The entire class fell silent.
A new lecturer stood at the front of the room.
Looking at them over his glasses, he said,
"Wonderful. It seems you have your own version of time."
Kaneez immediately put on her most innocent expression.
"Sir... actually... we had a very serious problem on the way."
The lecturer folded his arms.
"Oh? What happened?"
Kaneez hesitated for a second before answering,
"Sir... Fatima had... um... an accident with a lamp post."
The entire classroom burst into laughter.
Fatima lowered her head in embarrassment.
The lecturer tried to hide his smile.
"I see... and how is the lamp post doing now?"
This time, even Kaneez had no answer.
The classroom echoed with laughter once again.
---
After the lecture ended, everyone finally relaxed.
Naheed looked at Kaneez.
"This was all your fault."
Kaneez placed a hand over her heart dramatically.
"I only told the truth."
Sidra laughed.
"Yes... but not every truth needs to be told everywhere."
At that moment, a large crowd gathered around the college notice board.
Wafa looked surprised.
"Why is everyone standing there?"
The five girls walked closer.
A brand-new announcement had been pinned to the board.
"The Annual Inter-University Competition will begin next week. Five students from each department will be selected to participate."
Kaneez's eyes sparkled.
"Now this is going to be fun!"
Fatima carefully read the details.
"It includes speech competitions, drama performances, quizzes, sports events, and creative writing contests."
Wafa smiled.
"Maybe this is our chance to do something different this year."
Little did they know...
These competitions would become the beginning of an unforgettable journey—one that would test not only their talents, but also their friendship, courage, and determination.
