Right after taking my exam for graduation, I was rushing to the bus stand. After waiting for a while, I got the bus to my hometown. It was too much crowded as expected.
It's not my first day on this route. It's my 3rd exam in this city, was too much exhausted because today I got up at 5 in the morning, went to bus stand by motorcycle that is 9 kms away from my place, took a bus from there travelled for 4 hours to reach the exam center, changing one bus in the mean time, and right after taking a 3 hours long exam going back to repeat the same pattern.
Standing in the bus, I spotted a lady (The Lady of the day), with her baby. She was struggling with her child who was crying non-stop. Her child might be 8 months to 1 years. It's the peak of summer, and to make it worse, the bus is so crowded that there isn't even room to stand. I was standing next to their seat. The baby is not ready to stop crying, she tried to make him drink milk, water but of no use. And when this is happening, while you are standing next to them, it completely consumes your attention.
At one moment, I saw the lady's eyes, those were full of tears, she was on the verge of crying. At this point of time, she said to the guy (her husband), sitting next to her, that can you please take him/her for some time. The guy took the baby. The baby didn't stop crying, but for a moment, the lady was relaxed and took a sigh of relief. About a minute later, the guy gave the baby back to her. The baby crying, trying to get out of this bus which is too crowded to stay for him.
The lady in this 1-2 hour journey became more exhausted than me, I think.
That's when it came to my mind, what she went through, was the daily life of a mother, but no one is there for her. She is going through this phase entirely alone, without the support of her partner or her family.
