The entire ballroom became silent the moment the cage rolled onto the stage.
Inside the golden cage sat a young girl wearing torn white fabric, chains wrapped around her wrists softly like decoration.
The host smiled brightly.
“Our next item.”
“A living servant.”
Immediately..
The bidding started.
“Thirty million.”
A deep male voice echoed through the hall.
People turned slightly.
One of the CEOs.
Then another voice laughed lazily.
“Fifty million.”
Gangsters. Rich criminals. Corrupt politicians.
Nobody even looked surprised anymore.
The girl inside the cage lowered her head silently.
Then
Another voice echoed through the ballroom.
“Seventy million.”
The room instantly became quieter.
Even the host blinked slightly.
Seventy million for one servant?
Whispers immediately spread.
“Who is that?”
“That’s insane.”
Then suddenly
A cold female voice spoke.
“One hundred million.”
The ballroom exploded into whispers again.
“A woman?”
“She’s buying another woman?”
“Why?”
“Does she want a personal servant?”
“Or something else?”
Some women quietly giggled behind their masks.
Meanwhile inside the cage
The girl wasn’t listening anymore.
Her eyes kept searching only one person.
Vael.
She remembered his cold eyes downstairs.
And somehow
That terrified her more than the people bidding on her.
(Save me…)
(Please…)
But Vael didn’t even look at her.
Instead
Another calm voice echoed through the ballroom.
“One hundred ten million.”
Silence.
Even the music stopped for a second.
Nobody could understand who was spending such ridiculous amounts tonight.
Finally..
The hammer struck.
“Sold.”
The girl slowly looked toward the direction of the final bidder.
But because of the masks
She couldn’t see his face.
Only darkness.
Back in the VIP seats, Vael tilted his head slightly toward Nyra.
“Boss.”
Nyra lazily rested her cheek against one hand.
“What.”
“Why were you competing for her?”
“The price was huge.”
Nyra looked bored.
“That amount means nothing to me.”
Vael smiled softly.
“I’m not asking about money.”
“Then?”
“Why did you keep bidding?”
Nyra’s lips curved faintly.
“I wasn’t trying to buy her.”
Vael blinked.
Nyra’s eyes slowly darkened.
“I was competing with someone.”
Vael immediately noticed the difference in her tone.
Someone dangerous.
Before he could ask again, Nyra stood up.
“We’re leaving.”
Vael instantly followed.
“Going home?”
Nyra smiled coldly beneath her mask.
“Not yet.”
“We still need to kill someone.”
Vael’s eyes sparkled immediately.
(So romantic.)
A few minutes later
The two separated inside the upper floors of the building.
Nyra calmly walked toward the fifteenth floor while Vael moved through another hallway silently.
Before separating, Nyra handed him a small silver capsule.
“Mix this into the target’s drink.”
Vael caught it obediently.
“Understood, boss.”
The top floor looked quieter than the ballroom below.
Luxury suites lined the hallway while guards stood near expensive doors.
Vael moved carefully through the shadows before slipping the powder into a crystal glass unnoticed.
Then...
He disappeared again.
Inside one of the private suites
The man who bought the girl sat comfortably on a sofa.
The frightened girl stood nearby silently.
“Drink it.”
The man handed her the glass calmly.
The girl shook her head fearfully.
“I said drink!.”
His voice became colder.
Finally the girl drank it unwillingly.
A few moments later..
Her vision blurred.
Then she collapsed unconscious onto the floor.
At that exact moment
The suite door opened slowly.
Nyra stepped inside.
The man smiled.
“You finally came.”
Nyra stared at him calmly.
“…I thought you were dead.”
The man laughed softly.
“It’s been a long time, Nyra.”
Her eyes instantly darkened.
“Don’t call me that.”
Then her voice became colder.
“I cut your head off myself.”
“So how are you alive?”
The man leaned back against the sofa lazily.
“You forgot what era we live in.”
His smile widened slightly.
“Technology can revive many things.”
Nyra stayed silent.
Then slowly..
The man removed his mask.
And underneath...
Was the former S class hero.
The same hero Nyra supposedly killed years ago.
The same hero the world once worshipped.
Nyra’s expression finally changed slightly.
“…You.”
The hero smirked.
“Miss me?”
Nyra immediately attacked.
The room exploded into chaos instantly.
Glass shattered. Walls cracked. Furniture flew across the suite.
Meanwhile outside
Vael suddenly heard the explosion and rushed upstairs immediately.
The moment he arrived
He froze.
The hero’s glowing restraints wrapped tightly around Nyra while his hand gripped her throat.
Then...
CRASH.
Both of them smashed through the giant window together.
Vael’s eyes widened.
“Boss!”
He immediately ran toward the broken glass.
But the building was too high.
Fifteen floors.
Even he couldn’t jump from that height and survive.
His jaw tightened angrily.
Then he turned and sprinted toward the emergency stairs instead.
Below the building
The hero shoved Nyra into a black vehicle while golden restraints wrapped around her arms tightly.
Nyra struggled slightly.
But something felt wrong.
Weak.
The car immediately sped away.
Seconds later
Vael burst outside and saw the vehicle disappearing into the city streets.
Without hesitation
He stole a nearby motorcycle and followed them.
Fast.
Dangerously fast.
Inside the moving car
Silence filled the air.
Nyra sat restrained beside the former hero while city lights flashed across the windows.
Finally she spoke calmly.
“So you still have your powers.”
The hero laughed quietly.
“Not fully.”
“That poison you used on me years ago weakened them badly.”
Nyra smirked faintly.
“Too bad.”
But suddenly
Pain struck her chest sharply.
Her breathing stopped for a second.
Then blood slipped from the corner of her mouth.
Nyra froze slightly.
“…What?”
The hero watched her carefully.
“Do you remember the drink from earlier?”
Nyra’s eyes narrowed instantly.
Then she remembered.
One of the drinks at the ballroom.
Someone had tampered with it.
The hero smiled slowly.
“Your powers are gone now.”
Silence.
Nyra immediately tried using her abilities again.
Nothing happened.
Her expression finally changed for real.
The restraints suddenly felt heavier.
Colder.
Real.
The hero leaned closer slightly.
“You’re just a normal human now.”
For the first time in years
Nyra felt powerless.
And she hated it.
Meanwhile outside
Another vehicle chased them through the glowing city streets.
Vael’s eyes looked terrifyingly dark beneath his mask.
Obsessive.
Cold.
Dangerous.
The hero noticed him through the mirror.
And suddenly
He smiled.
