The year was 4068.
Rain poured over the glowing city of Novacron while flying vehicles crossed the sky like shooting stars. Giant holograms covered the buildings, showing advertisements, warnings, and wanted criminals.
At the top of the screen, one face appeared again.
Nyra Vale.
Model. Murder suspect. Level S dangerous mutant.
Inside a cold white hospital room, Nyra sat lazily on the bed, spinning a small knife between her fingers. Her long black coat touched the floor while blood stains remained on her gloves.
The door opened.
A man entered quietly.
Dr. Kael Arden.
Tall. Black hair. Sharp eyes.
The kind of man who looked calm even while standing beside a monster.
Nyra looked at him once before laughing softly.
“You came again.”
Kael closed the door behind him.
“I’m your assigned doctor.”
“Assigned?” she smirked. “Sounds disgusting.”
(He still looks the same.)
Nyra’s eyes slowly narrowed.
(College days. Quiet guy. Always staring like he knew something.)
Kael placed a file on the table.
“You injured seven officers yesterday.”
“They annoyed me.”
“You broke one of their arms.”
“He touched me.”
Silence filled the room.
Kael stared at her without fear.
Nyra hated that look the most.
Not fear. Not pity.
Just observation.
Like he was trying to understand her.
“You’re angry again,” Kael said quietly.
Nyra clicked her tongue.
“And you’re annoying again.”
Kael sat down across from her.
“The police want to use your abilities for government missions.”
Nyra laughed.
A dangerous laugh.
“Use me?”
Her eyes glowed red for a second.
“The world made me like this and now they want my help?”
Kael stayed silent.
“You know what’s funny, doctor?” she whispered. “When I killed that man years ago, nobody called me a hero.”
Her fingers stopped spinning the knife.
“He tried to destroy a little girl’s life.”
Her voice became colder.
“I stopped him.”
Kael watched her carefully.
“And they locked you away for murder,” he finished quietly.
Nyra looked at him sharply.
“How do you know that?”
“I read your old case.”
For a moment, the room became silent again except for the sound of rain hitting the windows.
Nyra suddenly stood up and walked toward him slowly.
“You think reading files means you understand me?”
Kael did not move.
“You were always like this.” Nyra leaned closer. “Quiet. Creepy. Staring too much.”
(Why isn’t he scared?)
Kael looked directly into her eyes.
“And you were always angry.”
Nyra grabbed his collar instantly.
The knife pressed near his throat.
Outside the room, alarms started ringing loudly.
Doctors panicked behind the glass walls.
But Kael still did not move.
“If another doctor replaces you,” Nyra whispered darkly, “I’ll tear him apart.”
Kael’s expression remained calm.
“You won’t.”
Nyra’s grip tightened.
“And how are you so sure?”
“Because you don’t kill innocent people.”
For the first time, her expression cracked slightly.
A dangerous silence filled the room.
(He noticed.)
Nyra slowly smiled, but this time it looked empty.
“You think that makes me human?”
Kael answered quietly.
“I think you’re trying very hard not to become a monster.”
Nyra froze.
Those words hit harder than bullets ever could.
Because nobody had ever said that to her before.
{Cp:2}
Red and blue sirens flashed across the dark streets of Novacron.
People screamed while running away.
Three dead politicians laid on the ground beside broken hologram screens. Their luxury vehicles burned with blue fire while rain poured endlessly from the sky.
At the center of the destruction stood Nyra Vale.
Blood stained her gloves again.
One politician crawled backward in fear.
“You’re insane!”
Nyra tilted her head slightly.
“No. I’m just tired of listening to liars.”
Before she could move again, a voice shouted from behind.
“Nyra, stop.”
Dr. Kael Arden walked toward her slowly while police drones followed behind him.
The officers looked terrified.
One whispered nervously, “Doctor, please calm her down before she kills again.”
Nyra laughed softly after hearing that.
“You people really think he can stop me?”
Kael stared directly at her.
“You’ve already made your point.”
“My point?” Nyra smiled coldly. “My point hasn’t even started yet.”
The ground cracked under her feet from the pressure of her power.
Police immediately stepped back.
Then suddenly
“Miss!”
A young voice interrupted everything.
Everyone turned.
A tall boy stood near the broken street lights. He looked strangely young compared to the chaos around him. His white hoodie was stained with blood near the arm.
He raised his injured hand innocently.
“Can you please leave that for later? I’m hurt.”
Nyra blinked once.
“Go see a doctor,” she replied lazily. “Why come to me, innocent boy?”
The boy smiled brightly.
“Because I’m your fan.”
Silence.
Even the police froze.
The boy continued shamelessly.
“I know you don’t hurt innocent people. Those politicians probably deserved it.”
Kael’s eyes narrowed immediately.
(What kind of idiot is this?)
The boy stepped closer carefully.
“Can I get your autograph?”
To everyone’s shock
Nyra stopped moving.
The pressure in the air disappeared instantly.
Kael looked at her sharply.
(She stopped?)
Nyra clicked her tongue in annoyance before grabbing the boy by his hood.
“You annoying brat.”
She dragged him toward Kael.
“My doctor,” she said coldly, “this innocent idiot injured his hand. Bandage him.”
Then she looked down at the boy.
“And after that, come with me. I’ll give you my autograph before sending you to hell.”
The boy made a pitiful face.
“But I’m an orphan.”
“So what?”
Nyra crossed her arms.
“Go cry somewhere else.”
Kael suddenly spoke while preparing medical tools.
“If you’re an orphan, go to an orphanage. Why come near someone dangerous like her?”
Nyra immediately glared at him.
“Doctor.”
The room temperature seemed to drop instantly.
“If you weren’t my doctor, I would’ve killed you the first day we met.”
Kael calmly wrapped the bandage around the boy’s arm.
“You wouldn’t.”
Nyra narrowed her eyes.
“And why are you so confident?”
“Because no other doctor can handle you.”
For a second, Nyra looked genuinely irritated.
“You think highly of yourself for a man with nothing but a medical knowledge.”
Kael stayed silent.
The boy suddenly lifted his injured hand again dramatically.
“Please continue. I’m still wounded.”
Nyra looked disgusted.
“Whatever. I’m leaving.”
She pointed at him carelessly.
“When your bandage is done, call my name.”
The boy smiled.
“Yes, miss.”
Nyra disappeared from the room in seconds.
The hospital suddenly became quieter.
Kael continued wrapping the bandage before speaking coldly.
“Are you really her fan?”
The boy leaned back casually.
“Whether I am or not has nothing to do with you, doctor.”
Kael’s hands stopped moving.
“I’m responsible for her.”
“Responsibility?” The boy smiled softly. “Sounds like an employer relationship.”
Kael’s expression darkened.
The boy continued innocently.
“I’m simply a fan.”
Then he added quietly
“A fan in love.”
Kael suddenly grabbed his shirt tightly.
“What did you say?”
The boy looked completely calm despite the tension.
“How can you love someone like her?” Kael whispered harshly. “She kills people. She destroys lives.”
His voice became colder.
“She doesn’t even try to look beautiful anymore. Half her face is covered with scars.”
Kael’s grip tightened more.
“How could anyone love a woman like that?”
The boy stared at him silently for a moment before smiling.
“If you don’t love her…”
His eyes slowly sharpened.
“Then why are you barking like a dog protecting what isn’t yours?”
Kael froze.
(What…?)
The boy leaned closer slightly.
“You looked angry the moment I said I loved her.”
Kael’s jaw tightened.
“Stop talking.”
“Why?” the boy whispered teasingly. “Did I touch something sensitive?”
Kael slammed him against the wall lightly.
“Don’t come near her again.”
Before the boy could answer
A familiar voice echoed behind them.
“Finished?”
Nyra stood near the entrance with cold eyes.
The boy immediately smiled brightly again.
“Yes, miss. Can I finally get your autograph?”
Nyra looked annoyed already.
“And one more thing.”
The boy pointed at himself proudly.
“Can I become your assistant?”
Even Kael looked shocked.
Nyra stared at him like he was insane.
“Do you even understand what you’re saying?”
She glanced at Kael briefly.
“I’ve known this doctor for years and I still don’t trust him.”
Then she looked back at the boy.
“So why would I trust you?”
The boy smiled gently.
“You don’t have to trust me.”
His voice became quieter.
“But I’ll stay loyal even if the world falls apart.”
Kael’s chest tightened hearing those words.
(Who does this bastard think he is?)
For the first time in years
Dr. Kael Arden felt jealousy.
