I went to prison to find the person behind everything. And when I finally found him, a smirk appeared on my face.
(Flashback)
There was a knock on my door.
“Come in,” I said.
Jin Woohyun and Yoo Minjae, my two idiot friends, walked in. They were foolish, but I was glad to have them in my life. They weren’t just my friends they were my brothers.
“Taeyun, are you really going to do this?” Jin asked.
“Yeah,” I replied. “I have to. It’s about Nari. I can’t let it go like this.”
After hearing that, Minjae patted my back.
“We know, Taeyun. We’re just worried about you.”
I didn’t say anything. I just needed to find out where Nari was.
Kang Nari my little sister had been missing for a year. As far as I knew, she was simple and innocent. But there was something I didn’t know… and I was going to find out.
(At the College Gate)
I stood in front of the college gate. Since 12th-grade students were repeating the year after last year’s suspension, I saw it as an opportunity to investigate.
I am Kang Taeyun, 22 years old.
As I stepped into the campus, something felt strange. Students were laughing and living normal lives, while my sister had disappeared without a trace.
I clenched my fists and looked around carefully.
“Taeyun.”
I turned and saw Minjae beside me.
“Are you sure about this place?” he asked quietly.
I nodded. “Nari changed after coming here. Someone in this college knows something.”
Just then, a group of students passed by. When they heard Nari’s name, their expressions changed immediately.
Fear.
One of them whispered, “Don’t talk about her…”
My eyes narrowed.
“What did you just say?”
The boy froze, then quickly walked away with the others.
Jin scoffed. “Yeah… this is definitely suspicious.”
At that moment, I noticed something on the notice board.
An old photo of last year’s 12th-grade students.
And in the corner… Nari.
But she wasn’t smiling. She looked terrified.
Below the photo, someone had written in red marker:
“Some secrets should stay buried.”
A smirk slowly appeared on my face.
Finally… I was getting closer to the truth.
(Later)
I attended class. The teacher introduced me, as my friends had already been there for a month.
After class, I went to the locker room and found Nari’s locker. When I opened it, things fell out.
I quickly checked around to see if anyone was watching. No one was.
I packed everything into my bag but before I could leave, someone bumped into me.
“Hey, can’t you see?” a cold voice said.
I looked up and saw a boy pretty, calm, and sharp looking.
I stared at him without realizing it.
“What happened?” he asked.
“W-what’s your name?” I asked suddenly.
“I’m Cha Minwoo. You?”
“I-I’m Kang Taeyun.”
“Nice name. But what were you doing at Nari’s locker?” he asked calmly.
“Ah… nothing. I was just walking around. Can we be friends?”
I didn’t know why I said that. Something about him made me want to know more.
“Sure,” he said.
But something felt strange about him.
The way he looked at the locker… the way his smile faded when Nari’s name was mentioned…
It felt like he knew more than he was saying.
Jin appeared behind me.
“Taeyun, the teacher is looking for—”
He stopped when he saw Minwoo.
The atmosphere changed instantly.
“Oh… so this is Cha Minwoo,” Jin said.
Minwoo tilted his head. “You know me?”
Jin forced a smile. “Who doesn’t?”
I frowned. “What’s going on?”
“Nothing,” Jin said quickly, pulling me away. “Let’s go.”
But Minwoo suddenly spoke.
“You’re searching for Kang Nari, right?”
I froze.
“How do you know my sister?”
He stayed silent for a moment, then stepped closer.
“Because I was the last person who saw her before she disappeared.”
Jin immediately pulled me back.
“Don’t trust him.”
Minwoo only smiled faintly.
“You should be careful who you trust in this college.”
Then he walked away.
Something fell from his pocket.
A silver keychain.
I picked it up—and froze.
It was Nari’s.
The same keychain I had given her when she first came to this college.
(Days Later)
Minwoo and I slowly became close. He helped me a lot. I started trusting him… even having feelings for him.
But the truth about Nari was still unclear.
Minwoo said he knew her but claimed she never shared anything important with him.
(One Day)
I felt hopeless.
“I think I’m useless now, Minwoo…”
“Don’t say that, Taeyun. You have me,” he said.
I hugged him tightly and cried silently. He patted my back.
“I know you’ll find the truth about Nari,” he said.
“Do you really think I can?”
“Yes,” he replied. “I believe in you.”
Then he kissed me.
I froze… then slowly kissed him back.
After a moment, he pulled slightly away.
“Sorry,” he whispered.
“Why did you do that?” I asked.
“Because you keep breaking down in front of me,” he said softly. “And I can’t stop myself from wanting to hold you together.”
I looked down.
“I’m supposed to find my sister… not get lost like this.”
“You’re not alone anymore,” he said.
For the first time since Nari disappeared, I didn’t feel completely empty.
(The Incident)
Later, as we walked out of the school, a girl suddenly fell from the building.
It was Nari.
I dropped to my knees and held her.
“Nari… please… open your eyes…”
Her body was cold and weak.
“Call an ambulance!” Minjae shouted.
But I saw someone walking away from the building… calm… as if they had been waiting.
Then they disappeared.
(After Investigation)
The police found disturbing information. Nari was pregnant. Her body had marks of torture and abuse.
But rumors also spread some said she was involved in drugs, manipulation, and other crimes.
Everything I learned about her confused me more.
(Later)
Minwoo handed me coffee.
I drank it… and suddenly felt dizzy.
Everything went dark.
(Dark Room)
When I woke up, I was tied to a chair. Minwoo stood in front of me.
“Wake up, bunny,” he smirked.
“Minwoo… what is this place? Why am I tied?”
“You still don’t understand?” he said. “You were being played, Taeyun.”
He stepped closer.
“You think I helped you? Nari didn’t just disappear. She was pulled into something bigger drugs, control, power. And you were chasing a story someone wanted you to believe.”
I suddenly laughed.
“You think you won? No. I already knew everything. I just acted like I didn’t.”
Minwoo froze.
“You… knew?”
“Yeah,” I said. “Poor you, Minwoo. You were never as smart as you thought.”
(Ending)
Minwoo was arrested by the police.
I went to prison to find the person behind everything… and I finally did.
Minwoo.
Even though I used him… I also loved him.
As they say, love makes you blind.
(The End)
