By lunch break…
My life was over.
Not metaphorically.
Literally.
Destroyed.
Burned.
Buried.
Because somehow—
SOMEHOW—
the entire school already knew.
“Did you hear?! Seo Minjae has a boyfriend!”
“No way!”
“I heard he confessed!”
“I heard they live together!”
“I heard they have matching pajamas!”
“…MATCHING WHAT?!”
I slammed my head onto my desk.
“This school is insane.”
My best friend, Jisoo, sat beside me looking way too entertained.
“So…”
“No.”
“You and Seo Minjae—”
“No.”
“He called you his boyfriend.”
“No.”
“He literally had his arm around you.”
“No.”
“He looked ready to kill anyone who got close.”
“…No?”
Jisoo grinned.
“Oh my god. You’re doomed.”
“I AM NOT DOOMED!”
Right then—
The classroom door slammed open.
Everyone went silent.
And there he was.
Seo Minjae.
Again.
At this point, I was convinced he had a supernatural ability to appear whenever my blood pressure was stable.
He calmly walked to my desk.
Placed a neatly packed lunchbox in front of me.
And said—
“You forgot breakfast.”
…
The classroom erupted.
“HE MADE HIM LUNCH?!”
“IS THIS REAL?!”
“OH MY GOD!”
My soul ascended.
“Minjae,” I whispered through gritted teeth, “what are you doing?”
“Taking care of my boyfriend.”
“STOP CALLING ME THAT!”
He blinked.
“…Future boyfriend?”
The screaming got worse.
I stood up so fast my chair nearly died.
“OUTSIDE. NOW.”
I dragged him into the hallway while the class watched like it was free entertainment.
“Are you trying to ruin me?!”
He looked thoughtful.
“No.”
“Then WHY?!”
“Because I like you.”
…How was he saying these horrifying things so casually?!
“You can’t just keep saying that!”
“Why not?”
“Because normal people don’t!”
He leaned closer.
“I’m not normal.”
…Fair point.
Before I could respond—
A dangerous voice interrupted us.
“Seo Minjae.”
We both turned.
And immediately, I knew.
Disaster.
Standing there was Kang Sera.
Head of Minjae’s fan club.
Beautiful.
Terrifying.
And currently staring at me like I personally caused all her suffering.
“We need to talk.”
Oh no.
Minjae sighed.
“No.”
Her eye twitched.
“Excuse me?”
Then she pointed directly at me.
“Why him?”
…RUDE.
I crossed my arms.
“Yeah, rude.”
She ignored me.
Which was honestly more offensive.
“President Seo,” she said dramatically, “your reputation—”
“Is fine.”
“Your future—”
“Also fine.”
“Your standards—”
Minjae suddenly wrapped an arm around my waist.
Pulled me close.
And said—
“My standards are exactly why I chose him.”
…
I stopped functioning.
Again.
Sera looked seconds from collapse.
The hallway exploded with gossip.
And I?
I was one heartbeat away from spontaneous combustion.
“Y-YOU CAN’T JUST SAY THINGS LIKE THAT!”
Minjae looked down at me.
Softly.
Seriously.
“I can.”
For one terrifying second…
I forgot how to breathe.
Then—
“AAAAAHHHHH!”
Not me.
The students.
Because apparently our entire hallway had become a live romance audience.
I covered my face.
“I want to transfer schools.”
---
Minjae smiled.
“Denied.”
“YOU CAN’T DENY THAT!”
“I can if you’re staying with me.”
I hate him.
I really do.
…So why was my heart beating so fast?
To be continued…
