Chapter 2 – Something Feels Different 💫
The next morning felt oddly normal. 🌤️
Too normal.
Aarav walked through the school gate with his hands in his pockets 🎒, pretending his heart wasn’t replaying yesterday’s moment again and again — the way he had held Meera’s waist… the way she looked at him.
“Good morning!”
Her voice.
He turned instantly.
Meera stood there with her usual bright smile 😊, sunlight catching in her hair ✨.
“Morning,” he replied, trying to sound calm.
She walked beside him like always. Close. Familiar. Comfortable.
But today, he was painfully aware of the small space between their shoulders.
Why did it feel smaller than before? 💓
---
In class, Meera leaned over his desk. “Did you finish the math homework?”
“Yes.”
“Of course you did. Nerd,” she teased, poking his arm lightly 😜.
His heart skipped. It was just a playful touch. She always did that.
So why did it feel different now?
He handed her his notebook. Their fingers brushed again. ⚡
Neither of them pulled away immediately this time.
Just a second too long.
Just enough to notice.
Meera blinked first and looked down quickly. “Thanks.”
Her voice was softer than usual.
---
At lunch, they sat under their usual tree 🌳.
The breeze was gentle. Students laughed in the distance. Everything felt peaceful.
Meera suddenly leaned her head on his shoulder.
Just casually. Like it was the most natural thing in the world.
“I'm tired,” she murmured.
Aarav froze.
His shoulder felt warm. His heartbeat turned loud. 💓💓
“You stayed up late again?” he asked quietly.
“Hmm.”
He hesitated… then slowly relaxed.
“If you keep doing that, you’ll get sick.”
She smiled without lifting her head. “That’s why I have you.”
His throat went dry.
“Me?”
“Yeah. You worry enough for both of us.”
He didn’t know what to say to that.
So he just sat there. Letting her lean on him. Letting the moment exist.
And secretly wishing it would never end. 💛
---
Later that afternoon, during P.E., Meera twisted her ankle slightly while running.
“Ow!”
Aarav reached her before anyone else.
“Are you okay?”
“I’m fine, it’s just a small twist,” she insisted.
But he was already kneeling in front of her, concern written all over his face.
“Don’t move,” he said gently.
She looked at him — really looked at him.
The way his eyebrows frowned when he worried.
The way his hands were careful, almost protective.
“You care too much,” she whispered.
He glanced up. “That’s not possible.”
Their eyes locked. 👀
Something unspoken passed between them.
Something fragile.
Something new.
---
After school, they walked home together as usual 🌆.
Their hands brushed while walking.
Once.
Twice.
The third time, neither of them moved away.
Their fingers slowly intertwined. 🤝
No dramatic reaction.
No teasing.
Just silence.
Soft. Warm. Real.
Meera looked down at their hands, then up at him.
“You didn’t let go,” she said quietly.
“Neither did you,” he replied.
She smiled. Not her loud, teasing smile.
A small one. Just for him. 💛
And in that quiet evening light, with their fingers still intertwined, both of them realized—
This wasn’t just friendship anymore.
It was becoming something their hearts had already understood…
Even if their words hadn’t caught up yet.........
