Rohan’s POV
I saw her — my best friend — after seven years.
I don’t know how to explain this, but I was so damn happy.
I was about to greet her, maybe even ask those questions that were left unanswered all these years… but Anjali stopped me.
When I turned around, she was gone.
I decided I’d talk to her after the meeting.
To be honest, she looked so mature now.
I still remember our school days — how she used to pout or get angry at anything related to finance. She even cried once when the teacher asked how she’d handle a budget.
But now? She explained her proposal’s finances flawlessly.
She’s changed — in a good way. I’m happy for her.
After the meeting, I wanted to talk to her, but she rushed out of the room. I lost her again.
Later in the hall, I noticed she had changed her pants.
What happened to her?
When I stood on the stage, I saw her face again — tense, but still graceful.
It almost made me want to laugh and tease her like I used to.
But something was different.
She wasn’t the Avika I used to know.
Or… maybe I never really knew her before?
Was she awkward around me? But why?

After One Week
It had been a week since Avika last visited the company. Only Raj came for meetings in her place.
It wasn’t an excuse — she truly was unwell. Her period days were always rough.
But some people were ready to use that as a reason to push her out of the contract.
“Sir, have you noticed Miss Avika’s behavior?” Anjali complained to Rohan.
“She hasn’t attended a single meeting this week. It’s irresponsible of her.”
Rohan stayed silent for a while.
“When’s the next meeting?” he finally asked.
“In one hour, sir,” Anjali replied.
“You can leave now,” Rohan said curtly.
Anjali gave a slight bow and walked out — a smirk forming on her face. She knew she had planted the seed of doubt.
---
One hour later, Rohan entered the meeting room.
Again, Avika wasn’t there.
He didn’t comment. He just sat down on his chair.
“Let’s start,” he said plainly.
As the meeting ended, Rohan looked up.
“Everyone may leave — except Mr. Raj,” he said, his voice serious.
The room emptied. Only Raj, Rohan, and Anjali remained.
The silence was heavy.
“Mr. Raj,” Rohan began, “where is Miss Avika? We’ve had five meetings so far, and she hasn’t attended a single one. Care to explain?”
“I’m sorry, sir,” Raj said respectfully, “but she’s not well. She’ll definitely attend the next meeting. And if you have any questions, you can ask me — I’ll do my best to answer.”
“Mr. Raj,” Anjali interrupted, her tone sharp, “that’s just an excuse. If not, then can you name her illness?”
Raj sighed. “I’m sorry, ma’am, but that would be rude of me to answer. You may ask Miss Avika directly.”
“Avika?” Rohan repeated immediately, almost too quickly.
Raj frowned, confused.
“Seems like Mr. Raj is quite close to Miss Avika,” Rohan said, irritation creeping into his voice.
“Yes, sir, we are,” Raj replied calmly. “But I believe Rajput Enterprises respects their partners’ privacy.”
He gave a polite smile and stood up.
Rohan clenched his jaw but said nothing.
Raj left quietly.
“Did you see his attitude?” Anjali hissed. “We should discard their company, Rohan.”
Rohan turned sharply.
“Don’t call me by my name in the company,” he said coldly, before walking out.
Anjali stomped her foot in frustration and left too.
---
Meanwhile, Raj immediately informed Avika about what happened.
“Don’t worry, Raj. I’ll be there next time,” Avika said weakly.
“Take care of yourself first,” Raj sighed, tired of all the chaos surrounding her.
