Sweet Lavender smell mixed in the smell of sun on leaves.
Bliss and Peace. That is the only definition. This place was the definition of Serenity and tranquility. Too much totology but that was exact how Caroline felt standing in front of the small wooden hut.
Oh how she missed this place.
Staring at the bunch of people seated cross-legged round the medium sized wooden table. The sounds of their laughter seemed to be a well planned Melody when mixed with the sounds of sea waves clashing against the Sandy shores and the distant sounds of cars humphing from their exhaust pipes.
Why did she leave in the first place?
This beauty she now sees had been a monster even in her dreams. The nightmare she wakes up from each morning. She had hated the vulgarity this part of town could offer. Even more so from the love that blinded her eyes. Spending her life in these parts was a mistake she didn't want to make. Bearing bags of burden she had borrowed from her childhood experience, she had seen all she needed from here and wanted nothing from it. It's Colossal Primitivity, like she would call it, was one she abhorred.
But now, all she can see was peace and a new beginning. I guess after all, Home is really where the heart belongs.
Her heart was here. Figuratively and literally speaking. It turned out the devil you know was and might just always be better than the angel you don't know. She thought the sun at this part had burned up their hearts as did it their skin but it appears that was a bad analogy on her part. You never really know the lizard that has stomach ache since they all lie on their belly. The same it us for humans. You never really know whose heart was dark since they all out up a smile.
She has learnt that from Clayton. His skin sure was white but his heart was darker than her skin could be. The smile he showed was nothing but a facade. One that strangely enough only her couldn't see through. She was right to have said theirs was like that if Joker and Harley Quinn. He was obviously not the best fit for her. She should have known the devil never bargains. Now she was back. Hope it wasn't too late.
"Caro" a masculine voice rang out. The laughter dies spontaneously and all eyes was set on the girl standing at the door.
No judge or grudge but the alienous stare tells a message. Caroline sighs. She expected this level of unfamiliarity but still a smile grazes her lips.
"Mama I'm back" she says in a small voice as she makes her way into the hut.
Silence falls on the crowd. A middle aged woman stands up from amongst them. A blank look takes hold of her face. Her brows lock a few times from the internal struggle she was having but then her will wins at last. A wry smile, then her hands open up wide for the young lady.
Caroline stood there looking at her mother stretching out her hand to receive her. Her heart Wells up in a feeling of guilt as well as a slight tinge of happiness.
Indeed she was back. She was back home where she belonged. Back to her senses and a state of mind she wished she had had a long time ago. Apparently it wasn't to late. With tears dropping down her face, her bag slides down her shoulders while she lurches into her mother's arms. No words to be said cause they both understand. They knew very much just how one's world could be turned upside down by a misconception.
Still in the end. What seemed to be a misconception had turned their lives around and thought vital lessons.
