Love Me!
Rain hammered against the city streets, turning neon lights into blurred streaks on the wet asphalt. Maya ran, her heels clicking frantically, heart hammering in sync with the storm. She didn’t look back—she couldn’t. The whisper had followed her everywhere for the past week: “Love me… or else.”
It had started as a harmless message on her phone. “I love you,” from an unknown number. Then came the gifts—flowers left at her door, notes tucked under windshield wipers. Sweet at first, but soon the messages twisted: “You ignored me today. That hurts.” “You will love me. You have no choice.”
Tonight, the messages stopped coming—but she could feel the presence. Someone watching. She ducked into an alley, trying to catch her breath, the cold rain stinging her cheeks. A shadow moved at the end of the alley, a figure tall, waiting.
“Maya…” The voice was soft, familiar, terrifying. She recognized it—somehow. But from where?
She turned to run, but the figure blocked the exit, stepping closer. The city’s lights flickered. She realized with a chill that this wasn’t just obsession; it was calculated. Every move she made, predicted. Every escape route blocked.
“I just want you to love me,” the shadow whispered. Then, the glint of a knife caught the streetlight.
Maya’s mind raced. She had seen thriller movies, read novels, always thought she’d be smarter than the victim. But now, cornered, she realized the truth: love demanded sacrifices. And her stalker had already decided hers.
Summoning every ounce of courage, she threw a trash can at him, ran for a fire escape, and climbed into the night. Behind her, the whisper followed, fading with the rain: “You can run, but you can’t hide from love…”
The city swallowed her whole, but she knew one thing—someone wanted her heart, and this time, it wasn’t about romance. It was about control.
And she was only just beginning to fight back.
