The tunnel behind our school was always quiet, almost forgotten. Most students avoided it, whispering rumors about strange happenings. I never believed in those stories...until today.
I stepped into the shadowed path, my heart racing, when a sudden shimmer of light made me stumble back. And there he was. A boy but not like anyone I’d ever seen. His clothes... they weren’t from this world. A dark navy tunic with silver embroidery, boots that looked more fit for a palace than a classroom.
He looked at me with piercing silver grey eyes, calm but intense, as if he had already studied me for a lifetime. My breath caught. “Who... are you?” I managed.
“I am Kael Daeheon,” he said, his voice smooth, regal, and oddly musical. “I do not belong here.”
Everything about him screamed nobility. The way he carried himself, the faint air of authority, and yet, something softer lingered beneath the almost shy curve of his lips when he smiled at me.
I blinked, unsure if I was dreaming. “Not belong…?” I repeated.
“Yes,” he said, stepping closer. The tunnel’s walls seemed to hum around us. “I come from a kingdom far from your world. A place ruled by kings and queens, where I am… considered a duke..the king’s nephew. I should not be here. But now I am.”
I swallowed hard, staring at him. Somehow, I knew life as I knew it would never be the same. The ordinary school days, the gossip, the quiet afternoons they were all gone.
Kael extended his hand, and I hesitated. “Will you… help me?” he asked softly. His smile, gentle and slightly teasing, made my heart skip.
I reached for his hand. And in that moment, I realized: adventure, danger, and maybe even something like love had just walked into my life through this forgotten tunnel.
