Then I moved to the prince's quarters. I used to work as usual but at night I had to go to the prince's room to give him treatment.
It's been a month since I've been working here but there's something that has changed about the prince.
I entered the prince's bedroom with my medicine box.
"Ah there you are my dear Lippe, You've finally come." said the prince.
"Please take off your robes Your Highness." I said as I ignored his previous statement.
"How many times have I told you, call me Ezekiel and not Your Highness."
"It's against the etiquette Your Highness." I replied as I started doing acupuncture on him.
He held a strand of my hair and kissed it.
"Ugh!" he winced. "Are you trying to murder your husband, dear Lippe."
"Sorry Your Highness, my hand slipped and please call me by my name."
"Okay My Dear Lippe." he replied smiling at me.
Then I brought the medicinal concoction "Please drink this Your Highness."
"No it's bitter, but if you give me a kiss...."
He stopped talking and took the medicine after he looked at the long needles in my hand.
"You all are dismissed" he said to others after he finished his medicine.
We were left alone in the room. "I'll be taking my leave now Your Highness." I said then bowed and turned around to leave.
"Wait" he grabbed my hand and pulled me making me fall on the bed and I almost sat on his lap, my hands were on his chest for support.
"Why are you always running away from me?"
"I don't understand what you are talking about Your Highness." I replied as I looked away.
"Look at me" he said as he pinched my chin and made me look at him.
"Are you saying you don't know what I mean. Is it that you can't understand why I'm talking like that."
"Your Highness if you want someone to accompany you then I can ask the head butler to arrange them for you." I said then quickly looked away after seeing the cold look in his eyes.
He picked up a cup and threw it and the ground "Get Out" he screamed.
"Please take care of yourself Your Highness" I bowed and left the room.
I stood at the door for a few minutes hearing him coughing continuously.
"Miss Calliope"
I turned around and saw the head butler standing behind me.
"Use this incense in His Highness's room, it'll help him in calming down." I gave him a small box.
"Miss Calliope you obviously care about His Highness then why don't you..."
"It's my duty as His Highness's personal doctor."
"I'll take my leave then."
I returned to my room and locked the door quickly. The tears that I've been holding back started to fall.
'How can I not understand what he's saying, but we can't be together.....We both have different status here and he's the crown prince.....How can he marry someone from low status, all his hardwork would go to waste.. ...And, what if one day I return back to earth, to my time.'
I slept while thinking about all this.
We didn't meet for a few days as he stopped me from treating him. I was looking at the ground and walking.
"Ugh" "Sorry" I collided with a soldier.
"Miss Calliope!! Are you alright?"
"Yes, sorry I wasn't paying attention to where I was going."
"No need to say sorry Miss. If it weren't for you then my mother would still have been sick."
I just smiled at him after hearing this. He went away after we exchanged a few pleasantries. As I turned around I saw Ezekiel standing at a distance.
I greeted him "Your Highness."
He came to me then grabbed my hand and strode towards his chambers.
"Your Highness slow down please" I stumbled as he was walking very fast, but he didn't stop. After entering his bedroom he closed the door and locked it pinning me on it.
"What we're you both talking about?"
"Nothing of importance Your Highness."
"Then why were you smiling at him?" he asked.
"It was just a polite gesture Your Highness."
He suddenly held my shoulders "Look at me".
" Lippe i have something I want to say to you."
I panicked "No Ez... Your Highness, you can't" I stopped him before he could speak.
"Lippe listen...."
"Your Highness please" I pleaded as my eyes started to get teary.
"Lippe I love you"
I closed my eyes hearing him and tears slid down my face.
Seeing this, he cupped my face and wiped my tears "Why are you denying it Lippe?"
"I know that you also like me, so why?"
I opened my eyes and saw him looking at me with desperation.
"It's not possible Your Highness." I whispered.
"We belong to different worlds and if we get together then what about your status as the crown prince. You have the responsibility of the whole nation on your shoulders. You can't disappoint your people Your Highness." I said as I looked at his eyes.
"Don't worry. Believe in me Lippe, I'll be a good ruler to my people, but I will rule them with you no matter what you say."
"So please" he said as he touched my forehead with his then kissed my cheek softly. "Hm?"
I nodded my head after sometime.
He smiled happily "Now call my name, I want to hear it."
"Ezekiel" I whispered softly.
"Yes My Lippe" he said then hugged me.
"Can I kiss you" he asked as he looked at me?
"Hmm" I nodded slightly.
He tilted my head with one hand and held my waist with the other and then kissed my lips gently with his cold lips.
"Open your mouth" he whispered.
I opened my lips slightly as he slipped his tongue in.
"Uhmm!!" I moaned feeling butterflies in my stomach.
He left my lips then kissed my neck and collarbone.
"Your Highness....." my words died down feeling his soft touches.
"Sleep" he stopped then carried me to the bed and lied down hugging me.
I smiled at him and closed my eyes.
Everything was going nicely for months, but we didn't know that this was the calm before the storm.
I was going to Ezekiel's room to treat him.
"Ahh!!" something hit my head and someone fed me something as I felt myself loosing consciousness.
