"The Last Laugh"
(Comedy, Friendship, Betrayal, Sad Ending)
Riya and Sneha had been best friends since childhood. They had survived school drama, embarrassing teenage years, and even a disastrous attempt at baking a cake that nearly set Sneha’s kitchen on fire. Their friendship was built on laughter, inside jokes, and an unspoken promise—always have each other’s backs.
But sometimes, promises break.
Their college was hosting a grand fashion show competition, with the winner getting a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to model for a top brand. Both Riya and Sneha decided to participate.
"We’ll rock this together," Sneha grinned, flipping her hair dramatically.
"Unless you trip over your own heels," Riya teased.
"Excuse me! I am grace personified!" Sneha retorted, just as she almost knocked over a water bottle on the table.
They laughed, but deep down, they both wanted to win.
The Twist
As the competition progressed, it became clear that Riya was stealing the show. Judges praised her confidence, her walk, and her elegance. Sneha, who had always been the more glamorous one, felt invisible for the first time.
On the final day, right before Riya’s turn on the runway, Sneha approached her with a bright smile.
"Here, take this," she said, handing Riya a water bottle.
"Thanks," Riya smiled, taking a big sip.
As she walked onto the stage, she suddenly felt dizzy. Her vision blurred, and her legs wobbled. Before she could react, she tripped—right in the middle of the runway.
Gasps filled the hall. Sneha, standing backstage, hid her smirk.
The show continued, and Sneha took Riya’s place in the final round. She walked gracefully, winning the competition.
The Betrayal
Later that evening, Riya sat on the campus bench, still shaken. Sneha walked over, her trophy in hand.
"Riya, I—"
"You did this, didn’t you?" Riya’s voice was calm but cold.
Sneha hesitated. "I just… I couldn’t lose. I thought you’d understand."
Riya laughed bitterly. "Understand? You were my best friend."
"I still am!" Sneha insisted.
Riya stood up. "No, Sneha. You’re just someone who won today. But you lost me."
Sneha watched as Riya walked away, realizing that sometimes, winning wasn’t worth the cost.
And for the first time, Sneha’s victory felt like defeat.
