It started as a joke. Just a stupid prank.
My friends and I were on a weekend trip to a cabin deep in the woods. The night was filled with laughter, junk food, and stupid dares. That’s when Ryan had the idea.
"Let’s prank call someone famous," he smirked, scrolling through his phone. "How about… Nathaniel Graves? You know, that crazy billionaire CEO? Heard he’s got a real temper."
I hesitated. "Isn’t he the one with all those rumors? People say he—"
"Oh, come on," Lily laughed. "It’s just a call."
Before I could protest, Ryan had already dialed.
The phone rang once. Twice. Then—click.
A deep voice answered. "Who is this?"
Ryan grinned, putting on a fake accent. "Hello, sir. This is Detective Carter. We have some… interesting reports about you. Seems you've been up to some very, very bad things."
A long pause. Then a slow, amused chuckle.
"You think this is funny?" The voice was eerily calm. "Let’s see if you're still laughing when I find you."
The call disconnected.
The room fell silent.
"Okay, that was creepy," I muttered.
"Relax," Ryan scoffed. "The guy’s a billionaire. He’s not gonna waste his time hunting down some random kids in a cabin."
We brushed it off. We shouldn’t have.
Hours passed. The night deepened. The wind howled outside, making the trees sway like dark figures in the distance.
Then—a knock at the door.
We all froze.
Lily swallowed hard. "Maybe it's just the wind…"
Knock. Knock.
Louder this time. More deliberate.
My phone buzzed. A text from an unknown number.
Open the door.
My blood ran cold. Slowly, I turned the phone around to show the others.
Ryan’s face drained of color. "That’s not funny, dude."
"I didn’t send it," I whispered.
The knocks came again—harder.
Then—the doorknob twisted.
And a familiar voice, calm and amused, drifted through the door.
"You shouldn't prank call strangers."
Click.
The lock turned.
