I had always been drawn to the city of love, but now, as a young woman alone in the world, I felt like an outsider.
That was when I saw him - a tall, dark-haired man with piercing green eyes. He was standing across the street, watching me with an intensity that made my heart skip a beat.
I tried to brush off the feeling, telling myself I was just being silly. But as I continued on my way, I couldn't shake the sense that he was following me.
It wasn't until I stumbled into a small, quaint bookstore that I realized he was indeed following me. He appeared in the doorway, his eyes never leaving mine, and I felt a shiver run down my spine.
"Bonjour," he said, his voice low and husky. "My name is Collin. And you are...?"
I swallowed hard, trying to find my voice. "I'm Sophie," I managed to stammer.
Luca smiled, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "Enchanted, Sophie," he said, taking my hand in his.
As he touched me, I felt a jolt of electricity run through my body. It was as if I had been waiting my entire life for this moment, for this man.
Over the next few days, Luca and I spent every waking moment together. We explored the city, holding hands and laughing like we had known each other for years.
But as the days turned into nights, I began to notice that Collin was... different. He was pale, almost translucent, and his eyes seemed to gleam in the dark.
It wasn't until we were walking along the Seine, the stars twinkling above us, that I realized the truth.
Collin was a vampire.
At first, I was terrified. I had always been told that vampires were monsters, creatures to be feared and avoided.
But as I looked into Collin's eyes, I saw something there that gave me pause. I saw love, kindness, and a deep, abiding sadness.
"Why didn't you tell me?" I asked, my voice barely above a whisper.
Luca sighed, his shoulders sagging. "I was afraid of losing you," he said. "I didn't want you to be afraid of me."
I took a step closer to him, my heart pounding in my chest. "I'm not afraid of you, Collin," I said. "I'm afraid of losing you."
Collin's eyes locked onto mine, and I saw a glimmer of hope there. "You don't have to be afraid, Sophie," he said. "I promise to always be with you, to protect you and love you for all eternity."
As he spoke, he took my hand in his, his fingers intertwining with mine. And I knew, in that moment, that I would never let him go.
Over the next few weeks, Luca and I grew closer and closer. We spent our days exploring the city, holding hands and laughing together.
And at night, we would sit on the banks of the Seine, watching the stars twinkle above us. Collin would tell me stories of his past, of the centuries he had lived and loved.
And I would listen, entranced, feeling like I was a part of something much bigger than myself.
As the days turned into weeks, I realized that I had fallen deeply in love with Collin. And I knew, without a doubt, that he felt the same way about me.
One night, as we sat on the banks of the Seine, Collin turned to me with a look of intense longing in his eyes.
"Sophie," he said, his voice barely above a whisper. "I want to spend the rest of eternity with you. Will you be my wife?"
Tears of joy streaming down my face, I nodded eagerly. "Yes, Collin," I said. "I will be your wife."
As the sun rose over the city, Collin took me in his arms, his lips meeting mine in a passionate, eternal kiss.
And I knew, in that moment, that our love would last forever.
