Part 2
Luca hesitated, then took another deep breath "I'm not just Rossi's nephew," Luca said, his eyes locked on mine. "I'm his son."
I felt like I had been punched in the gut again. Rossi's son? But that meant....
"You're the heir to the Rossi fortune," I said, my voice barely above a whisper.
Luca nodded, his eyes never leaving mine. "Yes, I am."
I couldn't believe it. All this time, I had thought Luca was just a charming, laid-back guy. But he was so much more than that. He was a member of one of the wealthiest families in Italy.
"Why didn't you tell me?" I asked, feeling a little hurt.
Luca shrugged. "I didn't want you to know. I wanted you to like me for who I am, not for my family's money."
I couldn't help but feel a little touched by his words. He had been trying to protect me, to keep me from being influenced by his family's wealth.
But now that I knew the truth, I couldn't help but wonder what it meant for our relationship. Was Luca still interested in me, now that I knew his secret?
As if he could read my mind, Luca took my hand and pulled me close. "Nothing has changed, Emily," he said, his eyes locked on mine. "I still want to be with you. I still want to explore this city with you, to laugh with you, to love you."
My heart skipped a beat as I looked into his eyes. I could see the sincerity there, the genuine emotion.
"I want that too," I said, my voice barely above a whisper.
Luca smiled, relief washing over his face. "Good," he said, pulling me into a kiss.
As we stood there, wrapped in each other's arms, I knew that nothing else mattered. Not the Rossi fortune, not the secrets and lies. All that mattered was the love we shared, the love that had brought us together in this beautiful, crazy city.
Over the next few weeks, Luca and I grew even closer. We would spend hours exploring the city, holding hands and laughing together. We would sit on the banks of the Arno, watching the sunset and talking about our dreams.
It was a magical time, a time of discovery and growth. And through it all, Luca was by my side, his love and support guiding me every step of the way.
As the summer drew to a close, Luca took me on one final adventure. We packed a picnic lunch and set out for the hills outside Florence, where we spent the day exploring the vineyards and olive groves.
As the sun began to set, we found a beautiful spot overlooking the city. We spread out a blanket, and Luca pulled out a small box from his pocket.
"Emily," he said, his eyes locked on mine. "From the moment I met you, I knew that you were special. You light up my world in ways that I never thought possible."
He opened the box, revealing a beautiful diamond ring.
"Will you marry me?" he asked, his voice trembling with emotion.
I felt like I had been punched in the gut again. Marriage? Was he serious?
But as I looked into his eyes, I knew that he was. I knew that he was serious, that he was committed to our love and to our future together.
"Yes," I said, my voice barely above a whisper. "Yes, I'll marry you."
Luca slid the ring onto my finger, and we shared a kiss as the sun set over Florence. It was a moment I would never forget, a moment that would stay with me for the rest of my life.
As we sat there, wrapped in each other's arms, I knew that our love would last a lifetime. We would face challenges and obstacles, of course. But we would face them together, as a team.
And as I looked into Luca's eyes, I knew that I was ready for whatever the future held. I was ready to take on the world, as long as Luca was by my side.
The end.
