Legend of the stars
They say after the universe came into being, before any other life form, two beings came to be. One created with light to become the very source of it , the other born from its shadows. In simpler words , they were the Sun and the Moon.
The Sun was the bringer of positivity, energy , warmth. While the Moon was the bringer of serenity , negativity, fear. She did use a part of the Sun’s light to shine in her own darkness, but that wouldn't make the Sun absolute. They remained in a peaceful balance , for without the light, there is no darkness, but without the dark the light has nowhere to shine. For without evil there is no good and without good there is no evil .
The mighty forces co-existed , and life forms came to be.
Life forms came in many types and each chose its side. The gods , angels and saints chose to worship the Sun . While the demons , spirits and ghouls chose to worship the moon. There were neutral brings too. They were mortals who lived in the land of the mortals, today known as Earth.
Time passed and each form of life thrived. The two forces lived in harmony.
Each force had chosen one child from each life form who worshiped them to make them their stars and bless their races.
The Sun chose one child each from the gods, angels and saints.
The Moon chose one child each from the demons, spirits and ghouls.
To represent the mortals, each force took in one child from the human race.
And thus, the EIGHT stars of the Sun and the Moon came to be.
Humans were always considered the most complicated and unpredictable kind of all the life forms ever to exist. They remained neutral when it came to worshiping the forces , if some worshiped the Sun then some worshiped the Moon. While some would gladly kill their own kind for their own benefits , there were also those who would gladly give up their own lives to protect the ones they love.
Lucief was the young human under the Moon.
His name was derived from “lucifer” which was considered the name of the king of evil by the humans of the time.
The boy was named so, for his parents considered him the bringer of bad luck. At the mere age of 5, he was abandoned by the very souls who had brought him to existence.
Living with the many kids of the orphanage didn't do much to make the poor soul feel any less unwanted . But for all He was , he was an exceptional child . Good at everything he ever did , even if it were his first time. However, the gift of perfection did nothing but bring more pain to the poor child. He was looked down on by the others. He won every bet he ever made , did things better than the others and always emerged victorious regardless of the competition, which made others jealous.
The people didn't ever take his name , and even if they did, it came out more as slang or a mockery than a person's name.
Just as there is the cold winter , there is always a warm spring.
There was but only one who treated him as an equal if not better. Only one who saw the child's heart, not the rumours around him. The only one who accepted him as he was.
Averna, the Sun’s human star.
Lucief and Averna had met long before they were taken as the stars representing the mortals.
Averna was in the same orphanage as lucief . But unlike him, she was loved by all. She was a gentle and an ever happy child.
The girl had no recollection of her life before the age of 8 , for her , her life started from her opening her eyes in the orphanage at the age of 8. For this reason, it remained unknown as to why her legs would not work like a normal person’s would. She could not feel her legs below her knees. As simple as walking and running may seem , for Averna , even limping was an impossible task.
Under the perennial willow tree that bloomed all year long , Averna had renamed Lucief as “Victor” which translated to “winner”. The little ball of light had done so for Lucief hated his name.
In his empire of the dark , Averna was the ray of light that brought life and hope to him.
The two souls bonded over each other's helplessness of not having a family to call their own. For them the world didn't matter as long as they had each other.
The dark had its ray of light. The winter branch had its spring bloom.
When the two were first taken under the wings of the almighty forces and separated , one lost her shine while the other succumbed to the madness of the dark.
They had to be brought together again by the Sun and the Moon, who understood their need for one another.
The two humans along with the other 6 stars , now learned under their master forces. They served one force and were divided into two groups of 4 each.

Peace continued and the Eight stars learned and trained becoming independent forces of their own , even though they did still serve one of the two forces.
As the old saying goes , nothing lasts forever, so didn't the peace and balance. The sun and the Moon went into war , which soon turned into a massive war which included life forms too.
The angels , gods and the saints fought as the Sun’s army , while the Demons , spirits and the ghouls did the same for the Moon.
The Eight stars did belong to each side , but didn't partake in the war itself.
The war of the eclipse lasted for centuries which had over time destroyed the neutral land , the land of the mortals.
The mortals could do nothing but perish , for not a single prayer of theirs were answered, regardless of who they worshipped.
Earth, the land of the mortals no longer remained inhabitable. The life on it was destroyed.
The Eight stars got together, realising the futility of the war and its impacts , but also their own limitations, decided to restore the land of the mortals and protect it from the effects of the war. It shall serve not only as the home for the humans again, but also of the other species who do not wish to fight and live in peace.
And after decades of hard work and pain , their efforts to restore the land of the mortals paid off.
Five of the stars , Judan , Syrene , Kione , Ziran and Nea had placed a 5 layered barrier to protect the land of mortals from the wrath of the forces and the effects of the war. The remaining three , Terra , Victor and Averna , combined their powers and brought back the 3 main life essence of the land of the mortals, land , water and wind.
Nature took its course and life thrived once again.
Seven out of the Eight stars took over each of the seven continents and kept it safe and balanced. Victor , the Eighth star, was incharge of the north pole .
There was no land for him to protect, just stopping the invading forces of the other worlds from entering through the weakest point in the barrier was his only look out.
And so centuries passed , life was restored and the two forces had finally calmed , but the overall Balance had been ruined.
The sun's light now became scorching and deadly , while the Moon’s shine and presence decreased.
The war was over and the Eight stars were bound to resume their original positions under their master forces , but this time, it would mean they would not be able to unite once again till a grave situation such as the war of the eclipse were to take place again.
The seed of love had only blossomed into a mighty tree between Averna and Victor during the decades and centuries. Fearing separation again , both gave away their titles as one of the Eight stars and remained on Earth as mortals.
Averna, who was able to walk due to the blessing of the sun, had lost this grace and had to return to her inability to walk , just as when she had yet to become a star.
Victor, who was the mightiest warrior among the stars, had to give up his regal life and all his power.
Both of them lived as mortals, they married as mortals.
Victor worked in the fields , in shops and inns , wherever he got paid to feed himself and his lover. And Averna passed her time by teaching young kids and adults how to read and write. Work never knocked at their door , so there were times they had to sleep with empty stomachs , but to Averna or victor , it didn't matter. As long as they could remain together, it was enough.
But the law of mortals?
Anything that lives will one day die.
Victor and Averna were well aware of the fact they would begin to age now and one day die . But none of them had considered the other factor of death. It never came with a warning or the way one would want it to.
One winter as Victor left for work , Averna sat out on their little cottage’s porch , waiting in the cold blizzard for her husband to return.
Winter has always been a hard season to get by . Work was hard to come by and Averna in her mortal form , was a weak human being who took ill easily.
As Victor returned with his day's keep, he found Averna, outside shivering in the cold, still waiting for him.
Romantic? True love? Hah. What a joke.
Averna became seriously ill after that.
It's not that they didn't have enough money for medicines or doctors , victor did everything in his mortal ability, but all the doctors and physicians told him only one thing “your wife won't make it.”
5 days after she took ill, Averna passed and so did victor’s light.
Can there be darkness without light ? Can there be evil without good ? How can shadows survive without a source of light ?
The day Averna passed, throughout the world all sorts of disasters took place . Civilizations were destroyed.
How ? Victor's grief.
Victor held onto Averna’s lifeless body and cried for days. And just as his tears wouldn't stop , nor would the disasters.
The life that the eight stars together had painstakingly restored , once again was destroyed.
The negative energy from victor moved heaven and hell itself.
The remaining six stars returned to Earth and infused their powers to protect the remaining lives and minimise the damage victor had caused.
In the end , victor, having destroyed almost every piece of land returned to where he had first felt the warmth of his light. Where he first felt hope.
The perennial willow tree.
Under its still blossoming branches , victor took his last breath with his light Averna in his arms.
The six stars had buried their mortal bodies under that very willow .
Averna and Victor were undoubtedly buried together.
Shook by the events, the sun and the Moon finally came together again, sealing away the victor’s lingering dark energy as the north star.
As for Averna’s lingering light ? It was fused with the North Star , giving it the ability to shine the brightest among all the stars in the sky.
Human life persisted again for the third time.
The balance between the Sun and the Moon was restored.
And the six stars all gave up their titles, and turned mortals, who eventually died as well. Some of old age , some due to illness and some for reasons unknown.
The legend was only known to those who had met the six mortal stars in their lifetime , and thus was known not to many.
The willow too died and mixed with the very soil Victor and Averna lay in rest.
In the end ?
Things returned to the way they first used to be and a peaceful course of nature took over.
