There's a haunted house next door
That has crooked floors
That can cause sores.
Neighbor's complaining about strange noises
It messes with their head
Their fear hung by a thread.
I went to see for myself what the commotion was about
It made me doubt what people were saying
All I saw was breaking wooden boards
It's just a vacant space with dirt.
Neighbor's complaining about strange noises
Saying things were being knocked over
Teens made tales for their younger siblings
Parents warned their children not to go near it
A house once lively and cheery stands cold and haunted.
I was drifting off to sleep when I heard a very slight noise next door
My ear to the wall, listening intently
There it was again.
Debating with myself if I should check or not
Curiosity got the best of me.
I wore my coat and walked to the so-called haunted house
With the bright glow of my flashlight, I noticed the back door was open
The insides of the house looked more spooky at night
A loud thud startled me
I quickly turned around
It was just the wind
I tightly gripped the flashlight
Sweat beaded on my forehead despite the cold weather
I heard another soft thud.
Phew! it was just an orange cat who was disrupting everyone's sleep in the neighbourhood
I was going to pet the cat. Instead, it hissed back.
His eyes glowed.
Suddenly, it grew bigger and bigger.
It turned into a monster.
I was frozen on the spot.
I ran towards the back door
It got locked by itself, the monster approached me
His fur now hairy and long
His fangs were bigger and sharper
My back against the door
My heart hammering wildly in my chest
The monster kept approaching with its mouth hanging open
I was trapped.
I woke up abruptly.
Shouldn't have watched that horror movie.
