"You idiot, why did you lose sight of her?"
Everything was going well, he offered her a ride to his apartment. And she accepted. But when the car parked there was no sign of Lyra, nothing. It disappeared like a dream.
He waited for her for minutes and never returned.
-Idiot- he hit the door hard. She was alone, on her own in a city new to her. And, instead of taking care of her, he had let her go.
-Hey, this car is your inheritance. Be gentle with him, will you?- his mother warned him with a murderous look in the rearview mirror.
-Sorry- he murmured. He was angry, with himself, with the world, with life. With all the time what passes without her.
-Don't worry, you can ask at the office- said his mother-, they keep the passenger records. If you explain the situation to them, I'm sure they will help you.
What situation should I explain? Good morning, I met a girl on the last trip here, I was in the last seat and I fell madly in love with her, could you please tell me her name and where did shelive?,as he imagined the conversation he could hear the laughter that would get in response.
No one would give him that kind of information, it was against confidentiality, and, in fact, he preferred it that way. If it wasn't him asking, if it was some crazy person, some stalker with bad intentions then it was fine, his information shouldn't be shared with anyone.
-I'll go ask- he said without further ado, expecting a negative answer.
-She will be fine. If she had the courage to travel alone, then she can make it to her apartment, don't you think?
No. She was not well. Shee wasn't brave, his hands shook the entire time they spent outside the bus, her ayes wandering over the entire place. He didn't doubt he could make it to the apartment, but she wouldn't be right later on.
He cursed under his breath.
"You should have taken her hand and never let go"
He made a promise to himself: the next time he saw her, that's what he would do, and if something tried to separate them, then he would bring hell to avoid losing her again.
