A change of heart
Eliza and Derek were the best of friends. Their bond was strong, built on years of shared laughter, secrets, and unwavering support. They cared for each other deeply, but Eliza's feelings had begun to change.
One day, Derek noticed Eliza acting strangely. She seemed withdrawn and avoided his gaze. Concerned, Derek decided to confront her gently.
"Eliza," he began, "is everything alright? You seem a bit distant lately."
Eliza's heart pounded. Did Derek suspect her feelings? Panic surged through her, and she retreated further, avoiding his questions.
Derek's confusion grew. He saw a flicker of something in Eliza's eyes - a mixture of fear and longing. Could their friendship be more?
Determined to get to the bottom of it, Derek persisted. Finally, Eliza confessed her hidden feelings. Relief washed over her as the words tumbled out. Derek listened intently, his own emotions swirling within him. He realized he, too, had developed deeper feelings for Eliza, but fear of jeopardizing their friendship had kept him silent.
