PART ONE
"A deep breath in"
"a deep breath out"
The only sounds heard was my breathing and the lady's whispered voice.
"Good now repeat"
"A breath in, now out"
Though I'm laying in her office on the sofa with my eyes closed, I feel almost weightless.
"Now Lucy, I want you to focus on my voice and tell me where you are right now"
"Um- I'm in the library"
"Good, and what are you doing"
"I'm pacing through the aisles, I think I'm looking for someone"
"Who, who are you looking for, try calling out there name"
"O-OWEN! OWEN WHERE ARE YOU"
"Who is Owen to you"
"He's my little brother"
My breathing becomes heavy and unsteady, her voice almost non-audible.
"By- count to- five- wake up retain- but feel calm-"
I feel my skin crawl, and my inners scortch, the library looks as if engulfed in a red sea of flames, my lungs wheeze as I try to catch a breath-
"One- Three"
A faint tone springs from within the flames- squinting through the glaring red-
"LUCY!"
"Four-"
A little boy's hanf reaches for me within the rumble, his expression petrified, as he screams my name
"OWEN!"
I reach my hand just as the lady claps her hands and whispers
"Five"
My eyes sprout open, fling my body to sit up- the woman looks flustered but composed, with small beads of sweat slipping down her cheek.
"Lucy, do you remember what you saw"
My hand cup my face, resting my elbows on my knees, as despair washes over me once more.
"My b- my little brother pushed me out of the way"
My voice a little above a mutter, choking back the crackle in my throat, my gaze meets hers
"My gave his life- to save mine"
My eyes well-up with no restraint- tears drip down, flooding my hands, as I try to wipe them off, brushing off the tears as if I'm over it, but as I wipe some away twice more take the place
The woman steps closer, hesitating before slightly tracing my back with her nails.
"This is only one of many steps to healing"
She states facing away from me, though she seems to want to say more, before she can
"Di~ng"
"Ahem- that is time"
The woman step away, standing next to her chair
"I will prescribe you a sleeping aid, I do hope it helps until our next session"
She hands me a prescription paper for mirtazapine, leading out of the office.
I glimpse the prescription once i climb into my car, and without a second though my fist crumbles the paper.
"I will avenge my brother, you theiving bands of arsonists"
My mutters trail off, as my glare catches her within the window, glimpsing down at my car or so it would appear, until I shift the other way.
"You-"
My body reacts stopping myself from stomping the gas in reverse, raming into yet another target
"Two peas in a pod, waiting to be buttered before boiled"
My fingers grip the steering wheel, biting my lip to the point blood drip down my chin
"Riana Connors and Henry Ford"
My grip losens, my gaze refocus, taking a breath in as I pull onto the open road.
"You will understand my pain! Mark my words- I will promise you I will be the one to make the world go blind"
