The break up with Yoongi left Jimin devastated. Jimin, naïf as he had been back then had thought that he had been the love of his life even though every one could have told you that they wouldn't last. Of course not, Jimin, a sweet and well behaving schoolboy, soon to be student with Yoongi, a drug lord in the making.
They had truly loved each other at some point and in the end they still did. Even Yoongi did even though he cheated and acted cold toward the end of their relationship, because somewhere deep down in his some what fucked up mind that was a way of protecting the younger. Protecting Jimin from him and the world around him. He felt like if he truly loved the dancer and wished the best for him, that he had to let him go and if that didn't work he had to push him away.
And that was what he did.
And now, with Yoongi gone Jimin felt alone, because he hadn't noticed that he had neglected his friendship with his best friend Taehyung and that said boy was about to head off to college in another country, which had always been what his mother wanted him to do since she herself had done that and had learned so much from the experience. It had given her a lot of opportunities.
"So you're really gonna study in Osaka?" Jimin said over dinner as he and Taehyung sat in some fancy Japanese restaurant, the shorter joking about the younger needing to get used to the food there.
"Yep, same school as my mother, only a different study" Taehyung said to what the other looked questionable to him
"Language and Culture. God, have you ever listened to me"
"Sorry, I already told you I'm sorry for not being a good friend lately" Jimin said a bit whiny.
"Okay, I won't bring it up again" Taehyung said after taking a bite of his tempura.
"So will you be staying at campus?" Jimin asked curiously.
"No, staying at campus there is really expensive since it's downtown Osaka. I'll stay in my own apartment, I guess I could say that, close to downtown Osaka which my mother and her college friend bought years back with their children staying there during university in mind. Normally it would be really expensive but I could stay in it for free since my mom is a co owner but there is one condition" Taehyung explained, Jimin replying with asking what condition.
"My mom's friend also has a son who is studying at Osaka university at the moment, so he'll be staying there too but I don't really mind. it's quite a big apartment with two bedrooms"
"But what if you guys absolutely hate each other?" Jimin asked worried as he took a sip of his soup.
"Well then I'll have to bare with it for four years because I'll have to work my ass off to pay for another apartment" Taehyung answers with a smile that made Jimin know that, yes, he'll bare with it.
"Wait, four years?! You're gonna be gone for that long?" Jimin all but yelled through the restaurant.
"Shhh. Yeah, Jimin. University is 4 years" Taehyung replied.
"So what are you gonna do? After graduating I mean."
"I don't know. I always wanted to go to Chung Ang University in Seoul but I don't think they'll take me after I quit dancing for almost a year." Jimin said while stirring his soup.
"Are you crazy? Do you know how good you are and you can sing and are handsome too. Believe me they'll take you" Taehyung explained, continuing his meal.
"Just sign up"
"Yeah, maybe your right" Jimin said before both boys finished their meal before they went to Jimin's house to study for their finals.
Jimin and his parents were back to normal, or at least that's what they liked to think, because things had happened that couldn't be turned around. They were all for Jimin's decision to sign up for Chung Ang University in Seoul even though it they thought there was a chance of them not letting their son in and that they had to let their son out of their watching eye again, they knew that it could help him in his further career as a dancer.
They were also happy that Taehyung had excepted their son's apology for not being a good friend and was now helping him to study. Taehyung was smart unlike everybody thought, so it was no surprise to those close to him that he graduated as an honor student and thanks to him Jimin graduated without failing a subject.
But with their graduation came their separation, Taehyung only having 4 weeks untill his life as a university student started already and he had to move in two weeks so he could get comfortable there.
"Why don't you come with me while the vacation lasts" Taehyung asked Jimin as the elder was in his room while he was packing his stuff.
"I don't know. Do you think my parents would believe me?" Jimin said as he helped his best friend close one of his suitcases before letting himself fall back his bed.
"Why not? Just promise them to send pictures" Taehyung replied as he put the suitcase by the door with a sigh.
It turned out that Jimin's parents trusted him again since he had been behaving really well ever since his break up with Yoongi and they let him go with Taehyung for two weeks, until the day the younger's school started. Taehyung informed the son of his mother's friend, who he found out was called Hoseok, to ask if it was okay if he brought some one for the first two week. Said guy didn't protest, saying that he understood why he wanted a friend there with him.
The two weeks left in Korea went by in no time, them going to their favorite places and going shopping for some last few things that the younger still needed, at least what he couldn't get in Japan.
"Hoseok said he is going to pick us up at the airport" Taehyung said as their plane was boarding at Osaka airport early in the morning.
"He said he'll be holding a board with welcome Taehyung on it."
"Don't you know what he looks like?" Jimin asked suspicious as they started to get up to leave the plane.
"No his icon is a group foto. I hope it's a certain person in the foto though but I think it would be weird to ask for his picture" Taehyung explained as they walked down the bridge about to get their suitcases.
"Oh so there was a hot guy in the picture" Jimin replied teasingly as he grabbed his suitcase while Tae lifted his stuff in a wagen.
"Just shut up and help me" the younger said jokingly before the shorter started helping him with the suitcases. Once that was done, they started to make their way to the central hall where they knew some one would be waiting for them.
As the automatic doors opened, Taehyung almost stilled his steps as he came eye to eye with the one he was hoping to be his room mate from the moment he had seen his profile picture.
"That's him right?" Jimin said with a smirk as he nodded towards the man with a welcome sign. Taehyung could only nod in reply while looking at the new male who he had been chatting with for two months and who now seemed to have noticed them because he started to wave at them with a big smile on his face. A smile that could make everyone happy because it reminded him of a sunny day.
"Hey guys, I'm Hoseok. Nice to finally meet you" the male said as he offered to take the cart with their stuff.
"I'm Taehyung as you probably already know from my profile picture and this is Jimin" Taehyung said with a blush on his face.
"Can we speak Korean, my Japanese isn't that well" Jimin said as he was afraid that he wouldn't be able to follow their conversation later on.
"Of course, no problem" Hoseok replied in Korean, as was asked, while giving the shortest a smile.
"So hyung, where exactly are you from, I can't pinpoint your accent" Taehyung asked as they walked to the elder's car, the elder already having told him that he was two years older than him.
"My mom's from Gwangju and we've lived there until I turned 5 I guess" Hoseok said as he brought them to a white Toyota Prius.
"After that we moved to Kyoto for my father's work."
"So you grew up here in Japan?" Jimin said amazed, not having expected that, having matched the accent to Gwangju.
"Yeah, that's why I understood that Taehyung-shi wanted to take a friend with him because mine are quite close" Hoseok said as he opened the trunk of his car and they started to put their things in it.
"I thought that maybe we should go eat something at one of my favorite cafes"
"sound like a good idea" Taehyung said dreamingly as he quickly sat down on the passenger seat, wanting to sit next to the eldest, making Jimin sigh in annoyance, hoping that he wouldn't get ignored during his stay in Japan.
It was not that his fears had come true completely but things didn't go the way he had planned. He had thought that he would spent all his time with Taehyung, not with him and Hoseok, so to say he was being jealous and possessive over his best friend was an understatement. By the end of the two weeks Jimin some what hated the elder, who also turned out to be a dancer just like him because Taehyung was his best friend not Hoseok's.
Taehyung and Hoseok had noticed the change in the short boy's behavior and Hoseok had wanted to distance himself for the rest of the boy's stay, but Taehyung wouldn't let him, saying it was ridiculous. And it was.
So Taehyung confronted his best friend when Hoseok had gone out with one of his friends, a guy who was a bit older named Akihiro.
So when he and Jimin put on a movie, not wanting to go out since they were still quite tired because they went to Universal Studios Japan the day before, just the two of them. Hoseok hadn't joined them because if was quite obvious to him that the shorter dancer didn't want him there.
"So Jimin, can we talk before the movie starts?" Taehyung asked as he walked back to the couch with two cups of tea in his hands.
"About what?" Jimin asked, seemingly confused.
"About the way you're behaving towards Hoseok" the younger said as he sat down on the couch next to his best friend.
"What?! I'm not doing anything" the short boy replied getting in a defensive mode.
"The way you're reacting tells me enough Jimin" Taehyung said with a sigh, getting annoyed because his friend was lying.
"Okay, but you were supposed to spent these two weeks with me not with him." Jimin started angered but his best friend quickly butted in saying
"I'm spending them with both of you because I'm gonna have to live with him"
But Jimin wasn't listening in his jealous rage.
"Yeah, so you'll be able to spent all your time with him and forget me after I leave"
"Forget you?! Jimin why would I forget you?!" Taehyung shouted angered because he felt like Jimin was accusing him of doing the things he had done while he was with Yoongi.
"Well, i don't know! Maybe because you're practically drooling over horse guy" Jimin yelled back.
"I'm not drooling over him and why is he suddenly horse guy!" Taehyung yelled back, not believing what the elder was saying.
"Come on! He looks like a horse!" Jimin shouted back at him, deep down knowing that he was being unreasonable.
"And every time he says something you practically forget that I even exist "
"Don't accuse me of the thing you've done! I'm not you!" Taehyung yelled almost seeing red before his eyes.
"How dare you! You wish you'd be me! Remember all those times you whined about wanting to be short and cute like me" Jimin yelled, abreacting his insecurities on his best friend, taking this fight where he never wished it to go.
"What! You are being ridiculous!" Taehyung shouted making fists, trying to hold himself in.
"No I'm not! You're jealous of me and you know it!" Jimin said
"The only one jealous here is you! And for what!?" Taehyung yelled back, finally having had enough.
"All this time when you had more fun than me, because people always liked you better, I stood by you but now that I'm happy, like I've found my place, you start acting like this?! Is that what our friendship is to you?!"
"So you were jealous?!" Jimin continued
"No I wasn't! But if the only way we can be best friends is when you are happier than me, than I don't want to be friends with you anymore!" Teahyung yelled, at the verge of tears.
"What?! Do you think that I want to be friends with some one like you, you alien!" Jimin yelled and that was the last drop for the ever so kind Taehyung. Jimin knew that he had gone too far the moment he said it.
"I want you leave as soon as possible. I'm going to Kyoto to Hoseok and his friend, I don't want to see your face anymore. You can stay here until your flight back to Korea because I'm such a horrible person. Make sure to be gone within 24 hours" Taehyung spit as he took his coat and left.
" Taehyung?! Wait?!" Jimin yelled to no avail, the younger either not hearing him or not wanting to hear him. As the silence (and their conversation) downed in on him, he wanted to sink into the ground, to disappear because he had just ruined his friendship with the one person who had always been there for him. Tears started streaming down his face as he let himself fall back on the couch, asking himself if he could make it up to the younger but his mind told him he couldn't.
He only saw one way out: taking his flight back to Korea, because he was afraid of confronting the younger, so he rather held his head low in shame and started to pack his stuff before going to the airport.
~
Returning home was a like a bitter pill, his parents immediately asking why he came home early and if something was wrong. They were shocked when their son told them that he had had a really bad fight with Taehyung and it probably meant the end of their friendship because Jimin had never seen the younger that angry and upset about something even though his parents told him that they would probably just make up afterward.
Days went by and there was no call from Taehyung, like Jimin had hoped since he was afraid to call the tall, skinny boy himself, but he seemed to be too angry to forgive the elder. Of course he was, first Jimin had used him as a gate way to stay with Yoongi, then he had left the boy hanging and when they did finally get closer, he accused him of ridiculous things because he was afraid the boy would treat him like he had treated the boy.
After 4 days Jimin decided that he had pittied himself enough and that it was finally time to call Taehyung, to tell him that he was sorry. What he didn't expect though was the phone to get to voice mail immediately, suggesting that the younger had blocked his best friend, or ex best friend. That day Jimin called at least 10 times, every time getting Taehyung's voice mail. Jimin kept calling at least 5 times a day during the rest of his vacation and even though he went out often, he couldn't really enjoy it.
He had expected himself to be really excited when he would get his Chung Ang University acceptance letter but when that day finally came, he wasn't, he wanted to to celebrate it with Taehyung, to call but he knew his call would get no further than the boy's voice mail. Jimin was now sure the younger had blocked him, not only on his phone but on all social media too, meaning that he really wanted nothing to do with him anymore.
