I was a high school student who recently transferred to a prestigious school.
I'm a very enthusiastic and straightforward girl who loves acting. My best friend, Cheryl, also studies there.
One time, while strolling near an open basketball court with Cheryl, I was hit pretty badly by a ball in the head.
I groaned in pain, and a guy ran towards me to check if I was alright.
As I checked who it was, I instantly fell in love with him. He was very handsome.
Later on, I found out that he's the heartthrob of the school, named Kyle.
"Hahaha! What?! You're saying you'll confess your feelings to him?"
"Don't laugh! I know that a lot of pretty girls surround him. But if I consistently proclaim my love and never give up on him, he might accept my love!"
"Girl, you need to give up. I hate to say this, but he'll never notice you nor accept your confession. You're not his type."
"How could you say that?! You're my best friend! You need to support me at least!" I pouted angrily.
"Sigh... Don't say I didn't warn you."
"Hmph!"

Cheryl helped me write a love letter and put it on Kyle's locker. I wrote in the letter to meet him near the gym at lunch.
I waited for him for an hour, but he still hadn't shown up. I decided to keep waiting and even skipped class, which I never do.
It was then afternoon, the bell rang, and students were going home. Cheryl, my best friend, came.
"What the heck are you still doing here?! Don't tell me you waited here the entire afternoon?!!!"
She was clearly mad, but I put a smile on my face.
"Calm down, maybe he hasn't read my letter yet or... Maybe he's just busy."
"Goodness! My neck—I'm feeling like my blood pressure is spiking."
I just chuckled.
"You dumb bitch! This isn't even funny!"
And I laughed harder.
Even after he did not go to the meeting place, I still hadn't given up.
Every day, I went to his classroom to give him a snack, greet him, and smile whenever I saw or met him. Sometimes I even cooked him lunch.
This went on for a year.

"How does your brain function? You're clearly a smart person, but you don't even notice that he's not interested in you."
"So what? I might never know, he might fall in love with me later on," I muttered.
"You've been pursuing him for a year!!! But he does not even give a f*ck about you."
"No, he's not!"
"What the f*ck is wrong with your brain?! In the past year, he has been dating a lot of girls! And even though you've been bothering him all this time, he didn't even glance at you nor asked you to be his girlfriend!!!"
"Hmph! He will like me later on."
"Why are you so stubborn?!💢 Ugh... Sigh... How can someone be smart and stupid at the same time?"
As Cheryl was mumbling, I saw Kyle in the hallway.
"Kyle~~ good morning!"
"What do you have for lunch for today?" I added.
"I don't know. I'm going to the cafeteria to see what they will serve today," he said with indifference.
"Really? But I brought you lunch, do you want it."
I said excitedly as I offered him the lunch I especially and carefully made for him.
He was silent for a while, but then reached out his hands and took the lunchbox I made for him. I beamed and smiled brightly.
As Kyle left, I saw my best friend looking at me with disappointment.
"What?" I asked with irritation.
"Sigh... I don't know what to do with you?"
As I was about to argue back, I saw Kyle drop something like a key. I picked it up and was about to give it back to him, but he was nowhere to be seen.
I left Cheryl alone in the hallway and chased after Kyle.
I saw him not from afar, and I noticed him with his friends, causing me to hesitate before approaching him.
"Woah! There you are! Hm? Did that girl give you lunch again? You're so lucky," his friend said in a joking manner.
"Sigh... Do you want it? I can give it to you. I don't eat the food made by her anyway."
"Bro... That's a bit..."
I froze after hearing what he said. I thought he liked my food. No, I denied I heard it wrong. He wouldn't say such a thing, definitely because he--
As I was trying hard to convince myself, I heard a sound that made me look to see what it was.
"Sigh... You're throwing it again? You always throw away the food she made for you."
"I don't like it."
"You haven't even tasted her cooking, so don't say that. Geez... It's such a waste."
I stood there and never moved for a while, trying to understand the situation. I was still in complete shock, and my heart felt heavy. I never shed tears, but I felt as if the world I was living in was crumbling.
[I didn't want to believe it.]
A familiar step drew near, and soon, it was my best friend approaching. I turned around and saw my best friend looking at me with a blank face.
"You knew this, right?"
She was silent.
"Why...? Why?"
"If I told you, would you have believed me?"
"But you should have at least told me! Aren't I your friend?! Why did you do this!!! YOU TRAITOR!"
She was stunned by me getting angry and yelling at her.
"You..."
She looked hurt, but I didn't care because I was angry. Yes, I wasn't feeling sad but rather angry.
"I don't want to see you anymore... We're not friends anymore."
"... Alright"
I stormed off in that place after that and never looked back.
The next day, I went to Kyle's classroom as usual. But when I arrived, I saw a girl standing beside Kyle and seems like they having fun.
The girl is clearly flirting with him! But why is Kyle letting her do that?
Kyle must've been too kind to refuse and avoid her! Maybe that's why?
I was pissed and angry at the girl so without knowing, I rushed towards her and pulled her hair very hard, making her scream loud.
I was about to pull it harder when Kyle pushed me, making me fall off my butt. I was stunned of his action.
I looked up and my whole body froze when I saw Kyle's looking down at me with his cold eyes.
Did I do something wrong?! Why is he looking at me like that? Why?! I can't handle his cold attitude to me. Please don't look at me like that...
And then, Kyle started to talk...
"Carah... I've been tolerating you this past year, but you've become excessively annoying. And I can't take it anymore."
'Huh? What does he mean?'
"Just leave me alone, will you?"
"But Kyle! I... I... Love you!"
"... But I don't." He said with an aloof look.
"A year ago, when I received your letter, I intentionally didn't showed up at the meeting place you wrote back then. Because if I did, you would give up. But I didn't expect it got even worse. I should have rejected you earlier back then."
What?
After I heard in what he said, I felt like my heart had been broken into countless pieces, as if the core of her being had been shattered.
I gathered my courage and looked him at the eye.
"Why? Why don't you like me? Just tell me what I lack and I'll fix it. Please! Just love me!"
I beg desperately.
"It's not that I don't like you... But your love is a burden to me."
"What do you mean?"
And then, suddenly a memory with Cheryl flashed back to me, warning me about Kyle.
[Hahaha! What?! You're saying you'll confess your feelings to him?]
[Give up already.]
[He had been dating a lot of girls in the past year but still didn't even glance at you!]
[He's a playboy, I'm telling you.]
[I'm telling you, he likes pretty girls.]
Ugh! No, no, no, no!
***
A few days have past after that day, I still went to school but I still don't want to give up on Kyle so but lied low.
And also, I wanted to reconcile with Cheryl. I gathered my courage and went to her classroom. There, I saw her talking and having fun with other students.
I felt jealous... But jealous of what? I don't know...
I stared at Cheryl for a while and something flashedback to me.
Cheryl is very pretty, her skin is smooth, eyes are big, long eyelashes, soft and rossy lips and had a slim body.
Why didn't I noticed this before?
I'm getting more jealous as I look at her. She's having a good life while I'm struggling. Now she found a new friend who replaced me.
***
"I heard you want to see me?" There was no certain emotion seen by her face.
I sent her a message to meet her at the rooftop to talk to her.
"Yeah..."
"I wanted to... apologize."
Cheryl's blank place just a while ago now shown a surprised look.
"I'm sorry."
"No, it's alright."
"I... I'm sorry, please forgive me.."
Even though she already forgived me, I still keep asking him for forgiveness.
"Carah, what's with you? You've been acting really strange."
"Cheryl, I'm sorry." I said with a tired face.
'Strange?' oh, just now...
Back just now, when I was outside their classroom, I realized something.
[I'm telling you, he likes pretty girls.]
"Pretty girls." I mumble.
This is so unfair...
"This is so I unfair..."
"You said he likes pretty girls, right?
"Huh? I didn't! What are you talking about."
"You have the perfect face and body, just like Kyle's type. This is so unfair!"
"What are you talking about?"
I don't want Kyle to date my best friend, so before Kyle gets to her first, I'll make her disappear.
If only I had Cheryl's body, if I were her, I would use it to seduce Kyle. If that's not possible... then I will...
I pushed Cheryl as she stepped back. The railing to the roof was not that long. Then Cheryl met the railing. She fought back, but I still pushed her.
"What are you doing?! I'll fall off the building?!"
"Then so be it!"
"You're crazy!"
Cheryl grab onto me and unexpectedly, I, also fell off on the building, along with Cheryl.
Darkness enveloped me as I hit the ground. Is this my end?
How laughable?
***
I felt my body lying in the warm sunlight, the gentle touch on my skin awakening me. It was as if I had emerged from a long slumber.
I stood up and went to the mirror.
I screamed, shocked by what I saw in my reflection. It was Cheryl.
I had become Cheryl.
I'm alive!
