He looked out over the sad city.Everyone was busy lieing to themselves about how busy they were, how they needed to work to survive.
DO THIS! DO THAT!!
No time to take a break.
I need to work harder.
LIES!!!
They were all running, running from pain and fear.
The fatigue didn't matter as long as they didn't have to think about it.
Actual problems could be ignored.
Thank God he was not like them. He wasn't running, infact, he'd rush into what everyone was trying to rush away from.
Grasping the railing thighter,he raised his foot and got a it wedged firmly into the iron-wrought pattern of the railing. Using his other foot,he climbed to the top. He had learned rope walking, so keeping his balance was easy. He spread his arms and took a breath of freedom, from fear, pain, hurt, betrayal.
Finally,he let go.
